It's rare to see a game where the characters are in overwhelmingly desperate and unwinnable situations, but continue to push forward for the hope of a better future. A lot of recent games get very cynical about it, or want to impart that the player should have an immediate reward.

I have been on a hard #EtrianOdyssey kick since like fucking September. I've reached labyrinth 13 in Nexus (oh my god shrine fatigue is real), 100%'d EO4, literally just have to slap around EO5's superboss for 100%, EO1US S4F16, EO2UC S3F11, like all since then and I'M STILL FUCKING GOING
