My parents’ car won’t do laps. Whenever I visit I have to follow her to one spot in the house, lie on the floor and smooth her. It’s just the way it has to be.

I had that a long time after we lost my brother. I didn’t want to drive (driving is as dangerous as my life gets.) The feeling has lessened as time has gone on. I hope it does for you too. The trouble is, life IS precarious and bad things can happen. It’s hard to learn to life with that.

Absolutely - my brother took his life and I can’t bring myself to rewatch S2. I am not happy about how they dealt with Yvette’s story or Picard’s reaction to it but I won’t go into that while we’re trying to be positive! It’s a shame because there was a lot of good stuff in S2.

Sibling grief is often forgotten so I was glad Kestra had the chance to talk about the “something awful” that she’s lived through.

I am sorry that you too have suffered bereavements recently. It definitely isn’t easy. Sympathy and solidarity from one bereaved person to another.

the episode was written and acted. I’m the weird person who actually was affected by Thad’s death more than Hugh’s (though I loved Hugh.) And I should have mentioned that brilliant young actress Lulu Wilson who only had a few lines that were directly about her grief but delivered them flawlessly.

In 2017. We’d grown up watching 90s Trek together & seeing Picard return was both painful & comforting. I have never felt such visceral anger at a creative as I felt towards Michael Chabon for hurting my comfort characters the same way my family had been hurt. I got over it but it shows how well…

I loved this! Thank you for sharing it. You included my two favourite quotes, Picard’s conversation with Rios and “No. Lives” which is so simple & so important. I can’t be objective but for me, S1 was definitely all about grief and it made it both painful & comforting for me. I’d lost my brother…
