Mostly right; your experience may vary depending on if a global pandemic kicks off three weeks before your 30th, but my 30s are far more level-headed and less a constant fog of stress.

You never know what music is going to matter to you as a person, but I imagine Limp Bizkit functioned in my life the way Rocky Horror functioned for a lot of Gen X. They were the band that showed me people could be *different*. Whatever you make of their music, I know it means something to me. RIP.

Half the joy of writing fiction is getting to a place where a character makes a decision, and you step back and go, "...Now why the fuck would they do THAT?" and realizing you need 5,000 more words to build that justification. Linear stories don't get created in a linear way. They're examinations.

That’s the other thing that baffles me about AI and creative writing, actually.

The work IS the joy for me. I don’t want to be able to snap my fingers and have a completed “product.” I want to be transformed by the process. I’m an author but I do this because I enjoy the rigor of being a writer.

In terms of process, I enjoy writing but revising????? Oh, that’s my real kink. A second or third draft???? A fourth???? Making tweaks on my desktop AND my phone???? *moans* I’m a WHORE for revision.

Ludicrous take to say nobody misses the video store. Going to my local video store as a teenager was so fucking good. They had a five movies for five days for five dollars deal that was pretty much the greatest thing ever and a super stoned clerk who had seen every movie known to man
