Bank bonuses to high earners to be paid faster after UK regulators loosen rules, another post-2008 crash change watered down.

Will impede ability to withhold bonus for poor performance.

If the poor, disabled, sick, old could fund political parties, hand jobs to legislators, they too may be heard.

We have signed a joint union statement standing against rising anti-migrant and racist rhetoric.

We stand in solidarity with our international workforce and migrant communities. Read the full statement: https://bit.ly/42BLbKk
A quote graphic from the Royal College of Nursing stating: "As leading bodies and professional associations within the UK, representing the health and social care sector, we reject all forms of discrimination and oppose any form of racism and xenophobia." Today the Fairness Foundation @fairness.bsky.social
has published this report by Howard Reed and me.

In it we make the case for reforming the UK’s approach to taxing wealth: shifting *away* from taxing income from work, and towards wealth taxes.

An interesting study of political violence in the United States. Two main findings. It is relatively low. It skewes right, that is right-wing groups/individuals have conducted more politically motivated killings since 1975.

🤯 You won't believe what this agency manager tells workers emptying bins in Birmingham!
😡 Is a @teamlabouruk.bsky.social council really saying they won't employ anyone who joins a picket line? Isn't that called blacklisting? Shouldn't Labour-run @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social be against that?

Polanski expertly dismantling the "rich people will move if we tax them" narrative, while Denham nimbly demonstrates how very patriotic such people are.

Former Head of Comms for the IEA, Annabel Denham, says the super rich will leave if we have a wealth tax.

Yes, the very same IEA that brought us Liz Truss’ disastrous mini budget. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Green Party leader Zack Polanski explains that their taxable assets can’t leave. #bbcqt

We're gearing up for another two weeks of strike action starting on Monday and part of that involves organising teach outs!

More details will be announced as they come in, but you can find the growing list of learning opportunities here: uonucu.org/teachouts/
Teachouts
Striking lecturers do care about your learning experience and, in fact enjoy teaching. Teachouts are an opportunity for students and staff to engage with each other, but no material relevant to exams…
