This is really interesting.
1. Some good news at last. This week’s column is about the amazing thing a couple of us stumbled into three years ago, which we’ve now developed into a global research programme. It doesn’t change everything, of course, but it could help change quite a lot. + 🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I watched a Red Admiral butterfly lay this beautiful tiny green egg on a nettle leaf, the day after we got three wonderful Green Party candidates elected to Cornwall Council. It seemed so apt.

I’d ask my many cis-gender friends and followers to take a moment today to consider this scenario.

Labour said that they would take care of nature, it's devastating what is happening now.
It's hard to get your head around the scale of the environmental vandalism the Labour government is hoping to unleash. The Planning and Infrastructure Bill is up there with Trump's executive orders. And the reason is the same: corporate power.
This week's column.

Ministers should listen to a powerful message from 32 nature organisations: the Planning Bill rides roughshod over nature protection, could push species towards extinction & cause greater loss of precious green space. Nature & development can go hand in hand - but this one-sided Bill isn’t the way

This is well worth reading. Those of us who are trying to protect nature may not realise how complicated the system is for medium and small farms. Labour need to now actively support Natural England and other organisations who are trying their best in extremely difficult circumstances.
Boris Johnson promised farmers that “subsidies would stay 100% guaranteed”.

The National Farmers’ Union council was overwhelmingly in support of ‘Remain’, but decided not to campaign, as it would upset some of their larger farmers who were cheering Brexit.
What happened to those post-Brexit farm subsidies?
We need a discussion about UK food and farming, our resilience to external and self-inflicted events, and where the money is going
