A study on drawing a hot Jupiter's nightside.

The dayside is overexposed. The nightside is pinkish from the combination of blackbody radiation and absorption from Na/K/H2O, similar to brown dwarfs.

This image depicts a hot Jupiter's crescent, being illuminated by a host star located off-screen to the bottom left. The dayside, being overexposed, is pure white, and the atmosphere shows up as a white glow surrounding the dayside. The nightside is dull pinkish, with cooler clouds showing up as darker regions. The two large hemispherical storms appear on the image as well.

what if we collected all the strong sweaty tank top engineer/mechanic anime girls and put them in a room and got them to construct or design something

27 days of anticonvulsants left

This month marks an EMERGENCY, to acquire a PCP down here. Or return to Maine. There is no more time. It’s more important than food, as my survival is dependent on medical intervention

I’m on a waitlist for affirmative care clinic and hope to hear back by months end

I need to write that unhinged essay about how "dwarf good elf bad" is the same debate as "railgun good laser bad" which itself is a derivative of "man good woman bad"

Thinking about how little sci fi uses non-rocket launch and interplanetary transit systems even when it fits perfectly

Laser launch systems and interplanetary beam highways are cool as fuck

As my Day 7 (Diagram) entry, here is an infographic version describing the components and steps.
Original artwork not permitted for use as AI training data or input. Diagram describing the major components and functionality of a Q-drive.

The Q-drive (and related "plasmadyne propulsion") is one of the coolest concepts I have come across. It can be used interplanetary and interstellar. It‘s a hard sci-fi *sailship*, except it can harvest energy from a different direction than it thrusts. So in IP travel it powers from solar wind.

For #toughtober Day 8 (Plasma) I made an animation illustrating how a Q-drive works. Annotated diagram to come later. Once again entirely nondestructive #scifi #space #art thanks to #blender3d #geometrynodes

big set of electric RCS engines
Cel-shaded 3D render depicting some spaceship hardware. Two cylindrical propellant tanks are secured on trusses and have pipes leading into a pair of large flat sections with many small electric engines fitted to them. Same as the 1st image, just viewed from a different angle.

Seconding this post. Please keep calling and mailing. ESPECIALLY if you're in Germany.

If Germany flips to opposed, with how the current shakeup is looking, chatcontrol is dead in the water once again.

#SaveSpeech

The vote on Chat Control is in October, I believe, and there's only 7 countries opposed. But there's a whole lot more that are undecided since this all started.

I know it's felt a lot like 1 step forwards, 2 steps back. But keep calling and mailing, please!

i made a cardboard cutout of one of my characters to use as a size reference in blender scenes
3D renders depicting a cardboard cutout of a 2D illustration of a girl with brown skin, neck-length pink hair, pink eyes, a yellow t-shirt, and black pants. The cardboard cutout is stood on a white plane with a simple dark grey background.

i like the idea of a "tachyon drive" not as an FTL drive but instead as a handwaved regular engine just with an exhaust velocity greater than c

Actively talk about how insane this is let people who are not online know how much this will impact them and how fucking creepy is. Stuff like this pass easily due to apathy and distractions like what’s going on in global politics. Once shit like this is in no government will chose to remove it

For-profit age-verification providers are now pushing for "continuous biometric monitoring" — AI scans of your face, your voice, your behavior — while you're online to protect children.

Early concept art for some of the girls from my WIP sci fi story. Cam is an interceptor/destroyer specialized in fast attacks and Lisse is a long range sniper and surveillance platform.
Cam has a triangular cross section and pointed profile with twelve turrets and six large retractable radiator flaps. Original artwork not permitted for use as AI training data or input. Lisse has a very dark, rounded conical hull, oversized radiators protected by movable plates, and a retractable suite of turrets and scanning equipment. Original artwork not permitted for use as AI training data or input. Second image of Lisse showing major interior components such as her bio-core, internal exhaust bell, and large focusing mirrors for lasers and telecopes. Science is dominated by male native-English-speakers with elevated affluence. It's a demographic that makes up less than 3% of the total global population. If someone wants to keep politics out of science, they are comfortable enforcing the status quo that benefits them (a small privileged group).
