Sorry, calling it a “hoax” is too generous to Telemundo and all the Scotts Horton on here. It’s a low-effort shitpost from a Nazi. If you fell for it the only honorable thing for you to do is delete your account immediately.
It’s all local. I just figured I might want the data at some point and never had any reason to turn it off.

Rust.

I’ve had a Substack scraper running for a couple of years now (starting when I read Katz’s Atlantic article in November 2023). Every once in a while I check in on it, and the Nazi situation over there is very much not getting better.
I wish I could feel comfortable reading and sharing people's substacks, as there are really passionate people posting articles that are in my wheelhouse. But, I've not seen anything to say that they're combating their nazi bar status, only being fine with it and seeing them as 'thought leaders'.

If anyone’s interested, I have a page of notes and archive links for the Nazi in the middle (who’s just been baptized in that image), verifying his identity, aliases, involvement in far-right groups, etc.
January 17, 2026 at 2:22 PM
Yep, found it.
Charles Bausman, the man who bought a barn where he hosted neo-Nazi rallies, and fled to Moscow in the immediate aftermath of January 6, announced that he's returning to Pennsylvania because he feels safe to do so.
January 17, 2026 at 1:15 PM
Do you happen to know somewhere where that’s documented? (If not I can look around myself.)
January 17, 2026 at 12:50 PM
Do you know if he’s back in Lancaster now? There’s a line in his Wikipedia article saying that, but without a source.

Watching a Телеканал СПАС segment about Americans in Russia and it’s wild to see the guy from NJ who claims to own the copyright to the Pine Tree Riots song recently featured on the DHS IG hanging out in Moscow with prominent neo-Nazi Charles Bausman.

There’s not an infinite supply, and they’re not unbeatable, but JFC there are like 700k cops over there. There’s no shortage of these fuckers.
January 17, 2026 at 5:53 AM
Probably stating the obvious, but the reason people here love this shit so much is because it’s comforting to think that there’s just a small set of violent racist men floating around America.
So tired of all of the “all of the fascist orgs are now just part of ICE” shit

I didn’t confront him, I just asked. I get the impression he doesn’t read his replies or mentions, or do anything really on here besides post 100+ times a day.

Pretty sure this is just some retired guy whose brain has been cooked by Facebook, but who knows

He replies to email if you want to ask

lmao that’s so embarrassing. to have to comment on the record that no, no it’s not AI slop using your name. that’s you. you’re doing that.

For the record, he replied, and the account is his.
Update: I contacted the email address for Robert Scott Horton listed on New York’s Attorney Online Services, and he confirmed that he runs this account. So it’s not impersonation, just misinformation and AI slop.
It’s especially odd that many of the early posts from the “Scott Horton” account are AI-generated memes, verbatim rip-offs of random physics facts from viral tweets, etc.

Obviously the problem of misinformation on the left is nothing like it is on the right, but it’s still very bad, it’s getting worse, and this platform is part of the reason why. We have to do better than this.
People like Scott Horton are the worst trash on this website. Post links and tweet screenshots with vapid commentary for clout, cash in ancient credentials (thanks, Harper’s and Columbia Law), ignore criticism when you post misinformation.
If anybody is able to DM @robertscotthorton.bsky.social, please ask them to delete this false post/article to stop the spread of misinformation. Thank you.

As far as I can tell he’s still alive (he wrote a Google review for a NM law firm last year). I’ve emailed the address on his NY Attorney Online Services listing.
January 16, 2026 at 2:02 PM
I don’t think the real Scott Horton has published anything for Harper’s since 2016, and I’m not sure this is actually him.

Look at this post. I’m not going to say a prominent human rights attorney and journalist would never copy-paste text from a viral tweet in a way that removes attribution and cuts off the final sentence, but what the fuck?
The universe can have three possible geometries: closed, open, or flat, determined by the density parameter Ω₀. A closed universe ( Ω₀ > 1) is finite, with curved space that loops back on itself. Open (Ω₀< 1) and flat universes (Ω₀ =1) are infinite, with straight paths never returning

I’m not sure this account is the person it claims to be. AFAICT that person (the attorney and Harper’s contributor) never had a Twitter account, and it seems odd for him to show up here out of nowhere in early 2025 and immediately start churning out dozens of posts per day (sometimes triple digits).

After a document leak from DHS outed him, Enrique Tarrio, head of the Proud Boys militia group, acknowledged that he was now an ICE officer. www.telemundo.com/noticias/not...

I’ve never thought very highly of Snopes but that is worse than useless. Having an AI chatbot on your supposed fact checking site is such an incredibly bad idea.

Fair enough, the blocking suggestion may be a little extreme. I just have no idea what someone in my position can do about this problem, and this morning any kind of deterrent effect seemed better than nothing.
