also worth noting the only original member left is Paterson, and he was the samples guy as far as I can tell. so that dense production "worldbuilding" mid 90s sound was basically a totally different band.

I haven't liked them since Fehlmann left (after the Kompakt releases Okie Dokie and Moonbuilding).

IMO their most distinctive was the mid-late 90s, Pomme Fritz, Orbus Terrarum, & Orblivion. those still don't sound like anyone else to me. early ones are nice too but maybe more "you had to be there."

yeah it'd be interesting to see something on the slower puzzle/strategy/adventure side of things in that setting, but still with the scale and open world. like the beginning of Lorn's Lure before you get upgrades, with more puzzles and lore.

yeah, there are a bunch of different servers w/ different owners, they aren't all open. but you can just join a big public one and follow friends on others, it doesn't really matter.

it seems fiddly DIY stuff is the price we pay for non-corporate/non-fascist tech rn, hopefully it'll get smoother!

I think mastodon has the infrastructure to avoid the top-down problems here. It's small and needs better/more diverse culture, but that's more of an issue of getting people on there than dodging economicly necessitated enshittification.

yeah, for ages I just tried to address this stuff only by stretching and finally learned it has to be a full body fitness kind of thing, otherwise some muscles overcompensate and pressure nerves and you get the tingling...

The Matrix was right, we have to get ripped to work on computers all day 😎

I have the recent Logitech vertical mouse but what's helped me more with RSI is variety and exercise. I switch hands, switch standing/sitting, and I use a stand to make sure the monitor is at eye level. went to physiotherapy and still do some stretches they gave me, but I think the gym helps more.

yeah, I've had plenty of dealings/learnings with the gut-brain connection... we can push it around with dietary changes & meds and stuff, which is very useful, but basically it's an evolutionary-designed black box of random processes from eons of chemistry vibe coding. weird as hell!
