I KNOW this doesn't seem a lot different than before, but the intentionality and power of the tools I'm using now are something more than just random values XD. The Jackalopes are the first race to have a voice mutation system that I would even classify as beta.

Spent the last few days working on pre-cacheing assets to prevent places I had found where it would lag things visually... Not a lot of visuals to show from this unfortunately, but it will ensure the game is nice and smooth! Currently working on the New Game intro sequence...

It would be a bit easier if I was more willing to make more ligatures for some of the letter combinations, but I have to limit how much time I spend on any one thing, unfortunately... Anyhow, this is what the curves look like for one of the characters for Overspeak!

Working on the Zoccoli writing script for their interstellar language of trade, Overspeak. This is my first time trying to make more traditional letters, and a script font, at that! It's definitely a bit tricker than I had anticipated!

Finished the language font for The Congregation! I'm really happy with how this one came out! I kind of wanted to make it fully tessellating, with all of the characters fitting vertically into one another perfectly, but there's no good way to do that.

Not a ton today! You can see that another working version of the new ship is in the game now, and I'm making more progress with controller integration/iconography, even if controls change, as I'm doing in the video.

Minor thing, but a lot of people requested the ability to skip past startup animations for the game. This lets you do that either with Esc on mouse/keyboard or the south face button on controllers. Just a little convenience, tweak!

The player ship is much farther along than a few weeks ago, when I posted some of the initial sketches! This is one of the mockups from a version with a general shape that I'm really happy with!

Ben revised the music for the title screen a bit, and I think it sounds a good bit cleaner now. Still need to tweak some of the slide in motions, and the ship itself will be updated sometime next week. After that, more work on the combat system to come!

Nothing big to today. Been working on a LOT of bug/polishing the last week. But I've done one thing that'll make a big difference! This is the dev view of voice mutation settings and phoneme counts for a race. More variety in conversation speech!

Been refining voices a bit more lately! Since the last time I posted anything with the Y'tori, I've cleaned their speech up a lot, and put some work into better understanding the sound board I'm using to generate voices. As before, different moods affect speech.

Got temporary mood tags put together, allowing me to swap out the displayed mood of a character mid-line. This is nice because it doesn't actually affect their real mood, which can trigger various things. Also experimenting with different fonts!

Thank you! Brendan is doing a killer job, and we're already zeroing in on the final designs. Once the first are done and in place, I'll begin reworking some of the battle and flight mechanics. Excited to show all of that as well!
We are redesigning the player ship, and these are some of the concepts for it! More of this to come as the process continues. We're trying to make it both true to the material that inspired Transience and distinct enough that it is instantly recognizable.
