This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.
A photograph from the 1988 ACT UP demonstration outside the FDA. Many people are participating in a die-in on the front steps, holding mock tombstones with messages like "RIP - killed by the FDA" and "Dead from lack of drugs." A line of police officers (some with classic 80s mustaches) wearing riot helmets stands between them and the building; one cop wearing white gloves is walking through the demonstrators. Affixed to the 2nd story windows of the building is a series of posters and a large blank banner reading Silence = Death.

There is no difference between "Tylenol causes autism in your child if you're pregnant" and "puberty blockers cause irreversible damage and are bad for children," other than the fact that many liberals will fail to challenge or even will believe the latter, because their transphobia is that strong.

One of the most irritating things I frequently encounter from transphobes is oddly similar to anti-vaxxer logic. Namely, that scientific evidence which contradicts their opinion is simply dismissed outright. When confronted with evidence about gender identity, the response is always utter denial.

Mamdani promises to deploy *hundreds* if lawyers to fight for trans rights, create a new office of LGBTQ affairs, and allocate millions of dollars to fund housing and healthcare for trans kids and adults

This is what fighting back looks like--elevating activists to materually support trans people.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Salazzle for Noctopy on Patreon!

From my Patreon PKMN PWYW's
Salazzle in pastel punky attire, spiked collars, belts, rose printed white jacket, pink shorts, belts on her tail, fishnets, snorting fire from her nose.
The word "CORROSION" is hidden in the background (salazzle's default ability) but it's mostly hidden by the character in front.

Signal is decently far towards not cops. telegram is right in the middle. discord is very cops
