This book made me cry more than maybe any other book. What a story, a must read. Hard to believe it was #hosseini ‘s debut novel. Read #bannedbooks! #booksky #readsky #thekiterunner

Read #grapesofwrath after my son read it and really liked it. Amazing prose. Obs a classic, important story. Confession: was prob supposed to read it in school but young me had a strong aversion to reading assigned books. Ty Cliff Notes! :) #classics #booksky #readsky #steinbeck

Vaccines are safe and effective.

Autism isn't caused by vaccines, and autistic people and their families deserve our support.

When you want information, ask your doctor.

It's more important than ever for all of us to speak plainly, truthfully, and directly about public health.

It’s a strange thing to get upset about :)

Written in 1979. Still so very relevant. And also ironic that Kindred has itself been a banned book. :(

This scene was the protagonist having to burn a book on slavery to keep safe while time traveling (not by choice) back to the Antebellum South

I tore the book into several pieces and threw it onto the hot coals in his fireplace. The fire flared up and swallowed the dry paper, and I found my thoughts shifting to Nazi book burnings. Repressive societies always seemed to understand the danger of “wrong” ideas.

Another #bookclub read. “We read to know we’re not alone.” A good book for people who like books ;)… enjoyed it enough to escape into for a time. Did not like the movie, unfortunately.

Read this for #bookclub. Based on a true story and well written but very much struggled with the topic of slave ownership in relation to how the protagonist was portrayed. I reject any notion of looking at that time period as “just the way it was.” NO. #booksky #boyd #historicalfiction

Only an administration intent on committing war crimes in the present and future would stoop to calling Wounded Knee a "battle" rather than what it truly was: a massacre of over 250 Lakotas, mainly women, children, and the elderly. 1/

I will have to read that. Another important one for Emmett Till: The Hidden Roots Of White Supremacy.

Yay for reading. I’m also writing a novel… for the timeline where everyone loves to read and values knowledge and truth and being a good human. Can’t be too far away. 🩵📖

I have a small jar full of peanut shells that our crows brought us and left on our balcony over the period of a few weeks… I have no proof the crows put them there … just #crowfaith (that’s a thing, I’m sure :)). We do feed the birds, but never peanuts (evidence?). 🐦‍⬛🩵🐦‍⬛🩵

Erasure by Percival Everett! Wow, so good!

By the way, I wanted to love A Man Called Ove but I got about half way through before I DNF’d it. :(

Half way through #Erasure by #percivaleverett. I’m in awe, this author! It’s his third book I’m reading and can’t get enough. Plus… it is research for my novel in progress. :)

Ohio managed to get thousands of people to hold hands and link arms in a human chain that stretched 8 miles to stand against ICE.

8 miles of humans linked together.
