mostly bad things that didn't happen. didn't become a future CTE patient because I didn't play contact sports.

🥳🎉🥂
I think he's based in Switzerland? But I absolutely share the sentiment. Kramnik also seems to be a regular consumer of Russian propaganda and it has clearly colored his view of Europe, and Ukraine, and fact-based reality more generally.

I will forever remember this moment. The way he sits there with him so respectfully.

weird how such minor things stick with you, but for me this was always the first image that came to mind when i thought of him: a calm intelligent young man having a conversation with people who shared his love for our game.

he will be missed

..to chat about something political-adjacent, and i thought 'this will go badly' but it didn't, because he was measured and thoughtful, and it was clear the community he built reflected that, because chat was also respectful and on point, which is unheard of in most streams. 2/x

i didn't know him well (he beat me in a match during the pandemic, but we didn't get to hang out, and sadly we never really had a chance to cast together) but i always thought he was a very smart and interesting person. i remember i opened his stream late one night and he was just talking.. 1/x

GM Daniel Naroditsky passed away. He was a talented chess player, commentator, and educator. FIDE extends its deepest condolences to Daniel’s family and loved ones.

Rest in peace Daniel Naroditsky. So young, so talented. His ability to share his knowledge and passion of chess made the game and the world better. I learned a lot from him, as did everyone who encountered his work. An unbelievable loss.

Incredible loss. Chess won’t be the same without him.

I'm comparatively new to chess, compared to most who are familiar with GMs. I just assumed I would be learning from Daniel Naroditsky for the rest of my life, you know?
I won't share the posts but Vladimir fucking Kramnik has been absolutely ghouling on Daniel Naroditsky for the past year, and especially for the past day over on Twitter. After learning the news he couldn't even shut the fuck up for one day

Just an absolutely irredeemable self-absorbed creep

Good (bad) one
If you see a good move, look for a better one. It really only applies to sharp positions in classical games where there’s a good chance of a knockout. Most of the time you should play the good moves.
What's the worst piece of chess advice you often hear given?

This is crazy.

England's chess super talent Bodhana Sivanandan, 10, has just beaten former Women's World Chess Champion GM Mariya Muzychuk.

Amazing result.
