Saw a reporter asking AOC if Mamdani was going to be the face of the left the way Trump is the face of the right, and I have to applaud her patience as she pointed out the left doesn't need a face, it needs everybody working together.

We're supposed to be the ones who *don't* want a cult leader.
Exactly this. "Every accusation," etc etc etc.
If he can get past all the inevitable stonewalling by people desperate to prevent him from accomplishing anything, that man has a future in national politics.
And everyone is projecting yes on 50 in CA. This election went pretty much as well as it possibly could, across the country.
His reaction was basically "they lost because I wasn't on the ballot."

Which, first, I have some bad news for the Republicans for the rest of time, then, and secondly, no dude, you *absolutely* were on the ballots. Not your name, but this was certainly a referendum on you.
Part of me really does want to see the Trump admin trying to swing this as some sort of victory or mandate for them, but the sensible part of me just wants them to slink into the shadows and shut up.
And looks like Mamdani got the NYC mayorship.

What does that leave? Prop 50 in California?
Dang, I had anticipated the dems would do well tonight but this is a freaking bloodbath.
The only one I play is Stellaris, and I still haven't quite figured out why that one stuck with me so hard and I bounced off all the others.
This is like the platonic ideal of "show that should have been a one and done"
The first written records of the Melusine story are slightly older than the first written records of the Yuki-Onna story, but the oral tradition of both is probably much older and it's likely that they developed at roughly the same time, across the world from each other. And that's wonderful.
My favorite part: some of you think I'm talking about the Japanese "Yuki-Onna" folktale, but some of you think I'm talking about the French "Melusine" folktale, and *you're both right*.
Years later in a moment of weakness he tells the story of the monster to his wife, who, in sadness and anger, reveals that she is the monster and he's broken his promise. She can't bring herself to kill him, but leaves and never returns, perhaps taking their children with her.
So this young man has a scary encounter with a monster and thinks it's going to kill him, but it spares him on the condition that he never ever speaks about meeting it.

Young man promises, lives, eventually gets married, has kids, lives a happy life.
How can anyone unironically type the phrase "Europid blood memory" and not immediately think "wow, I sound like a fucking Nazi right now"?
If I had money to bet, I'd be putting it on a stupid made-up war with Venezuela to attempt to distract everyone from the current admin's disastrous domestic fuckups and/or to have some sort of terrible excuse to cancel elections.
From my observations over the course of my life, I can only assume a lot of people think the government's job is "hurt the people I don't like."
With a gif, a movie you’ve seen more than 7 times
Dang, I mean, I know I'm dastardly, but wow
I don't, off the top of my head, even know how to check someone's follower count on bluesky
Like, bisexuals in particular and not queerness in general?
Really looking forward to trick-or-treating with my *gasp* teenager this evening.
Just got reminded of the existence of Dark Night of the Scarecrow and had this very visceral sense memory of being terrified as a kid.

It's a similar feeling to the one I always get when I remember The Dark Secret of Harvest Home was a thing.
I think I dated Rosie Crustaceans for a while in college.
