16. Dr. Giggles (1992)

Dr. Giggles was one of those movies that always ran on late night TV in the 90s and another one that I have a lot of nostalgia for. It's fun for what it is, mostly to the credit of the late great Larry Drake who turns the camp up just enough to keep the things entertaining.

15. Pontypool (2008)

The premise of words being infectious and putting people in a hive mind state that incites violence is eerily relatable in the year of our Lord 2025. Words have power and taking that power away can be damn near impossible once they've already started to spread.

14. Scanners 3 The Takeover

The straight to video market was booming in the 90s and studios wasted no time making low budget sequels to almost any movie. Scanners 3 is one of the many heaps of trash that resulted from this, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy how off the wall bonkers it got.

13. Heart Eyes (2025)

This was a pretty fun horror/comedy that is kind of a mix of My Bloody Valentine and a Hallmark movie. It moved at a brisk pace, the two leads had great chemistry and there were plenty of gnarly kills.

12. Leprachaun in the Hood

God bless Warwick Davis for continuing to reprise his role in these movies, because he's really the only thing that holds them together. I have some nostalgia for this movie and for better or worse, the end credits sequence almost makes it worth sitting through.

11. Urban Legend (1998)

As far as Scream ripoffs go, you could do a lot worse. The lead girl Natalie is no Sydney Prescott and just kind of stumbles around while everyone around her gets killed off. Also, Jared Leto is in the film because even in the 90s we couldn't fucking escape his mediocrity.

10. Scream (1996)

This was a very fun one to revisit, I remember sneaking into this in theaters back in 1996 and then getting grounded for coming home late. The movie is still very fun and exciting to watch, it was lightning in a bottle that the sequels were never quite able to recapture.

9. The VelociPastor (2017)

The parody B movie can be a slippery slope, because if it leans into being too self-aware it can come off feeling completely disingenuous. VelociPastor avoids that common pitfall and is as completely ridiculous as its title implies, while also being surprisingly earnest.

8. Fright Night (1985)

If asked what's the best vampire movie from the 80s most people would probably say The Lost Boys, but for me it's Fright Night. The story is simple, with some nice homage to Hammer films, good atmosphere and great practical effects.

7. Murder Party (2007)

A random invitation to a Halloween party ends up being a poorly devised murder plot by a group of Art School rejects. A short and sweet low budget horror comedy that's perfect for the Halloween season.

6. The Other (2025)

The Other takes some wild swings, but does it in the most boring way possible. Just watch Malignant instead, at least that movie is entertaining.

One thing I really appreciate about the Dreamcast is that a ton of games are compatible with the VGA cable and not only does it make the games look very pretty, it also makes playing on modern displays a whole lot easier.

It's insane how lopsided this entire generation has felt, partly due to the pandemic giving it a rather slow start and the previous gen still going strong. I wish they would focus more on game optimization and maxing out the current hardware before pushing out new hardware.
