I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

80s: Japan is the future
90s, 00s: Japan in dying country typified by stagnant incomes, xenophobia and toxic, sexless nerd culture
Now: oh, that WAS the future
the actual suicide of the West will be combining a rapidly aging population with hostility to migrants. however we must give credit to East Asia, especially Japan, for pioneering this model.

Sometimes I genuinely cannot believe how its possible that I write better in my second language than supposedly professional writers write in their first, and I swear I do not mean this in a smug way.

So if Olivia is 32 now, broke up with Lizza last year, was together with him for a decade, and then was living with you for 4+ years before that, how old was she when you moved her out of her (presumably parents’) house in the suburbs to live with you?
Btw about this from Lizza's reply: Olivia and I lived together for 4+ years (4 b'days, 4 Xmases, 4 anniversaries). That's like $1250 of jewelry per celebration. And her apartment was a writing studio. And I made an f-ton then. What was I supposed to do? Get her a lot of Gift Certificates from Kmart?

This whole day made a particular vulgar Korean phrase stuck in my head, so now you must know it too. 구멍 동서. No I'm not going to translate, that's what Google is for.

Just gonna keep banging this drum until *someone* does *something*.

South Korea and US just announced that Korea will be permitted to reprocess spent nuclear fuels. EXCUSE ME?? THIS ISNT NEWSWORTHY???? Are we just ok with nuclear proliferation now???????
Actually, I don't think I stated this strongly enough.

With the nuclear sub commitment, this is a big, big inflection moment for US-ROK alliance. The choices made at this moment will lead to dramatically divergent consequences in the next decade. And the Korea experts in DC have nothing to say.
Not too long ago, the DC blob was screaming bloody murder when the liberals in South Korea pushed for the wartime OPCON transfer. Now, with Trump admin fully backing it, the blob has nothing to say about it. Curious how that happens.

I think this is good insight into cop brain bc no fucking way they knew what USIP was and had any opinions on it, they're just losers excited to "raid" something
BREAKING update to my lawsuit against DC Metropolitan PD for body cam footage from USIP raid —

We've submitted our response, including sworn declarations from *six* USIP workers, 1 of whom says he "observed members of MPD giving each other high-fives and fist bumps" after removing staff from bldg.

Jones winning in VA with a larger margin than Kamala Harris should be the biggest news here.

If you read TBR's newsletter this week, you would know what it means for South Korea to have nuclear submarines. It's not cooperation, it's alimony.

Ok so, about that Harper's Gooner article. Overall a really great (and disturbing) read. But seems to me its conclusion is backwards. It says "Aren't we all a little bit like this on the internet?" And I just wanted to scream, NO WE'RE NOT

This is one of several books that live inside my head.
I would really like someone to interview experienced SK protest leaders and write up their advice for americans.
Watching folks on here trying to combat misinformation about basically 'how to do protest' (dealing with tear gas, sitting down, do you register with the protests, etc.) really hammers home how important training and preparation was for the Civil Rights Movement.

"Indigenous People's Day" is such a good example of how lefties fuck up. If they knew what they were doing, it would be called something like "Sequoia Day" or "Sitting Bull Day." Replace name with a name. Evoke an image. Instead we have this garbled mouthful.

Once again:
US is undergoing a bankruptcy of intelligence. It built a complex society that is beyond its members' capacity to understand, so they must break that society until it becomes simple enough for them to understand.

The reason this theory works is because most of our elites and leaders have no real views or opinions, but merely adopt those that they believe will earn them approval. And now they’re all seeking approval on the Internet, where everyone really is 12, or has the mental capacity of a 12-year-old
