One of the easier Shplief puzzles... or, at least, what I sure HOPE would be one of the easier ones. 😅

Who wants to play Forbidden Solitaire?

We had a think about the potential audience for our '90s-inspired, found media horror:

All right, gonna take this new logo/profile pic out for a spin, see how I like it.

It's still very me-oriented and not marketing-oriented lol. I like that color blue, it's my own handwriting, I like the books-on-a-shelf idea per each game release, etc. But it just might do.

maybe the idea of a Tiny Bookshelf just doesn't lend itself well to a logo lol but i'll probably return to this someday 🤔

sadly i must report despite efforts to Manifest Visions or Dream Big or Plan Goals or Have Ideas or Brainstorm or Hop On A Call or Promote or Post -- my most consistent progress in game development has reliably come from Locking In and Doing The Work

a fair warning: buried within my next game is a pun, beautiful and terrifying, horrible and wondrous

one encouraging sign -- my kids LOVE my next game

they are intensely interested in each new puzzle i add, they get into little fights about who gets to play it on a device, they love solving and playing and befuddling themselves over it

feels like this bodes well

I, too, am not immune to the "it's hard to focus on creative stuff when there's So Much Going On" feelings I see so many sharing lately.

I see you. I'm with you.

As for me, I will continue making my little lofi shooter game called Tyrant Slayer.

ah, the two modes of gamedev

"i am a wizard, thriving and delighting richly in the exploration of my innermost creativity, fully self-actualized and in my element"

and

"i am going to throw my laptop out the window. i am going to scream. and i am going to murder someone."

might start a Tiny Bookshelf youtube channel, figure it would make sense for game announcements and trailers and whatever other indiedev-brand stuff

thoughts ?

I don't think it's fully hit me yet than I am making my next game(s).

Not just talking about ideas, not just tooling around in free web games or proof-of-concepts, not taking a 'break' or getting frustrated -- I'm making good process! Sticking with it! I'm doin' the thing. Neat.

It's actually NOT Owl! 😈

It's to nice to know that after a couple weeks off for a holiday break, I can jump right back into gamedev. Even if I do kinda have to knock some rust off...

Anyway, SHPLIEF

Maybe I've already said this, but it's been a challenging year.

But! I really have been feeling great in a renewed commitment to this 'gamedev' stuff. It's clicking, it's routine, it's coming along steadily. The dormancy is shaking off. So excited for what's ahead.

If you see these two game objects, and your mind immediately thinks "Monkey Saw"...

... then, I'm sorry. You might not be ready for Shplief. smh.
