BREAKING: Democrats just tried to pass a standalone bill to fund WIC & SNAP to make sure families don't go hungry during the Republican shutdown.

Republicans BLOCKED it. So Trump won't use emergency funds to keep SNAP running, and Republicans won't let any bills pass. Shameful.
I would be absolutely fine with my neighbors speaking a different language.

Trump's CHOICE to cut off food assistance in November isn't just cruel—it's illegal.

The money is there, and letting families starve during this GOP shutdown is a violent policy choice.

I'm glad @massago.bsky.social is suing to force this Administration to fund SNAP & keep families fed.
Attorney General Andrea Campbell and 21 other state attorneys general filed suit against the Trump administration for “unlawfully” suspending SNAP payments set to run out Nov. 1 amid the ongoing government shutdown, officials said.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro: "On the food stamp issue, the money is there! Let them not get away with saying they can't do it. Their political will isn't there to feed the people who rely on the SNAP program which is the most effective anti-hunger program in the USA."

The Trump Administration’s assertion that it can't use SNAP’s contingency reserves for SNAP benefits is contrary to:
▪️The plain language of the law
▪️Their own (now deleted) shutdown plan
▪️Guidance from prior Administrations

We have the receipts:
SNAP’s Contingency Reserve Is Available for Regular SNAP Benefits, as USDA and OMB Have Ruled in Past
The Administration must use all available options to fund November benefits for the 1 in 8 people in the U.S. who need SNAP to afford their grocery bill.

Ok, this made me laugh. But seriously, why does my oven want to connect to my wifi network?? And what does an AI toothbrush even mean???

And I ask these questions as a former programmer turned lawyer that deals with technology law regularly.

“At this moment in time of course, the ballroom is really the president's main priority.”

It’s hard to wrap your mind around it because of how callous it is.

But that’s what White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt actually said. Out loud. To press. Proudly.

Democrats should be drawing up legislation right now, this very minute, to bar Trump from helping himself to $230 million in taxpayer funds from DOJ. Challenge Republicans to hold a vote on it. Push this so hard in the media that every GOP Senate and House candidate is pressed to comment on it.
Fantastic book. It needs a sequel.
While not proven, it appears that the reasonable inference here is that Kash Patel is deliberately targeting members of FBI that may be part of or supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. If so, that is deeply disturbing.

Congressional Republicans shut down the federal government - their third time under Donald Trump’s control.

Here’s what that means for you.
It appears Trump wanted the shutdown to happen.
Trump: A lot of good can come down from shutdowns. We can get rid of a lot of things that we didn't want, and they'd be Democrat things
A statement like that is a pathetic display of insecurity.

"Outrageous incident" turns out, in fact, to be manufactured outrage by, checks notes, a right-wing individual. Twisted on so many levels, including the fact that people could have been hurt. The store had to close because of threats based on disinformation.

Chicago Starbucks Worker Did Not Write 'Loser' On Order Honoring Charlie Kirk, Company Says
A Starbucks spokesperson said time-stamped surveillance footage shows an employee did not write the note, which had prompted online outrage and the store's temporary closure this week.

The murder of Charlie Kirk is tragic.

Political violence is never acceptable in the United States and should not be tolerated.
