After a great time in Tuscany and Lake Garda, we start the long drive home in the VW ID.7 Tourer via the Italian Alps with plenty of hikes, food, and opinions from my wife. (“Bleep” button on standby!)

How was the trip, and how much did the charging cost after 2,500 miles?

Yeah, you never know. I imagine they might get around to it one day.
We're now in the position where we can get away with one car but if we needed a second one this would be top of the list, for sure.

We had solar panels and batteries installed back in April (thanks to @heatableuk.bsky.social), and it’s been a great summer of generation. ☀️

I’m amazed at how much profit we’ve made with export. Negative energy bills are a wonderful thing!

What a summer! ☀️ How much have we earned from our 13.5kW solar and 20kWh batteries? 🔋

If you did I don't think we were overly bothered by it, I don't remember being annoyed by anything. That's what happens in queues!
Yup, that's the plan. They won't be very thorough but we'll do something on both.
We test drove the BYD Dolphin Surf today and will be trying the Hyundai Inster tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how they compare.
Bumped into a couple of fellow YouTubers while at Everything Electric Farnborough today (@tillathenun.bsky.social and UpsideDownFork). Plus loads of viewers said hello, which was lovely. Going back tomorrow so if we missed you today feel free to say hello tomorrow. Great job, @bobbyllew.bsky.social
Yes, that rings a bell now that you mention it.
Haha! No flower I'm afraid. I'm sure you'd recognise us regardless. We're certainly hoping to catch the Zapheap stuff while we're there.
It's odd that they dropped the North one this year. I hope they bring it back.
You might get lucky and catch all three of us (and maybe some other YouTubers) all at the same time.
Kat and I will be at Farnborough on both Saturday and Sunday, so likewise, say hi if you spot us!
I'll be at Everything Electric in Farnborough tomorrow. If you see me, say hello!
Think of it as "becoming more distinguished"
Wow, five years ago. A lot has changed in that time!
5 years ago today! My big Land's End to John O'Groats trip for charity in the Kia e-Niro with my sister-in-law, Ceci. We had massive support from the EV community and raised £3,300 for charity.

Back then a trip like that seemed quite a big deal. These days? So easy! ⚡️
@chrisdeleon.bsky.social you may be interested to hear this. There is hope!
Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."
The steep decline in the annual rolling average since March is due to us adding some extra solar panels to our roof. We're squeezing everything we can out of the space available.
I've just been updating our monthly stats for how much we generate from our solar array, and how much electricity we've consumed. My aim has been to reach the point where we generate as much in one year as we consume, and we're now super close! Only 100 kWh net consumption over the last year! #solar
A chart showing my monthly net consumption (consumption - solar generation) for the last 18 months, together with the annual rolling average. The annual rolling average has been taking steadily since March and is now nearly at zero.
