If a man said what Megyn Kelly said, you would assume he was a trafficker.

This young lady is wise beyond her years, but she is still a “child”and she would like a word…

Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

Doesn't he have anything useful to do like feeding hungry children or providing medical cover for all the USA. Or more generally helping the majority of citizens of the USA.
Silly me, that would be about others.

Guess he must like the South Park storyline as he isn't suing them as far as I heard?

As usual, distorting, misleading, deceptive nonsense from Farage.

Trump is no one's ally except his own.

And would only be happy with favourable lies in line with his lies about the insurrection/coup he attempted on that Jan 6th.

Does Farage beleive Trump's lies? Or worse, repeat known lies?

I'm afraid I find what he says to be full of __it and feel he's only listened to because he's very rich.

I'd definitely go with the concensus of abundant scientists over one person convinced tech will solve all. People, the masses, making and accepting good decisions together are the good answer.

Each day something more crazy pops up and it's usually from a "Republican" or "Reform" (in the UK).

But this, mad, mad, mad

We've not even knowingly encountered any ET yet and some people are already turning them into the demonised "other" in their need to hate.

Hey Labour gov', I'm more interested in how much you've raised from going after the high income tax evaders that research suggests comprise 50 to 90 times the amount that benefits cheats cost. (Multiple research suggests it's as much as £90 billions)

If Reform are happy to break international law why would anyone think they'd obey domestic law?

"new State Capitalism" - Republicans love to call people Communist or Marxist. The USSR and China operate state capitalism. Trump's government taking a stake in Intel is practicing the exact thing they like to accuse others of he's a 20th Century "communist".
From me in @lpeblog.bsky.social today:

The lesson of the US investment in Intel is "public capital without accountability. The result is not sovereign wealth but corporate capture—an arrangement that entrenches incumbent power while eroding the state’s ability to direct economic development."
Today, @jamesftierney.bsky.social argues that the government's recent $8.9 billion equity investment in Intel represents a new model of American state capitalism: one that entrenches corporate power while foreclosing more democratic and effective alternatives.

CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow embodied what a journalist should be: someone who holds power to account instead of capitulating to it.

Over 70 years later, his segment denouncing Joe McCarthy’s congressional witch hunts rings truer than ever.

The wealth of the richest 1% in America just hit a record $52 trillion. These are the people getting huge tax cuts — paid for by cuts to health care for millions of Americans. Every lie Trump and Republicans are telling right now about the shutdown is meant to distract you from this.

This is exactly the kind of fact based accusation I'd love to hear a reply to from Sir Kier. A proper response, not a "I just don't agree with this" kind of none response that gets done.

A response where he runs down the list of people in panels that Clive lists, as one example,
Public disillusionment with the political class isn’t a passing phase.

It's the reality of a system where the dividing line between the state - and wealth, oligarchs and corporate power - has been systematically erased.

Another week, more terrorism from the Labour government rather than cooperation and problem solving.

"We know best, beat them until they submit" - seems to be the only way they know.

Here's how the real two-tier Britain works:
1. Whatever Nigel Farage says, however stupid, is looped and discussed by the media, while left-wing voices are treated as noises off.
2. Tiny far-right protests get massive airtime, while 10s of 000s gathering for Palestine or green causes are ignored.🧵

Is it me or are there increasing numbers of lie supporting right wing accounts posting troll like comments. Usually accounts that have no hint of a bio and who's posts are usualy short, contrary and frequently uninteligable?

I always go scan down their posts (if they made any) and replies.

Just finished "The Fate of Abraham - Peter Oborne" (good but I have some strong criticism). It notes the OED originally defined terrorism as "government by intimidation as directed and carried out by the party in power"; describing the manner of rule by Maximilien Robespierre known as Terrorism.

To claim the ONS trusted figures are so unreliable faker Farage must surely have a reliable source to share? Or how would he be able to know?

Simple fact, he has nothing or he'd show his working rather than vaguely spread the fresh manure that he does have.

Farage, it appears, lies again.

Reform, policy as pure mindless emulation as zombie parrots of the dangerous, deluded, radical Republicans.

They have no evidence, national interest or discernible reasoning other than doing their distant masters bidding for this attack on what anyone with a brain cell sees as sense.
