There are a few large windows at the front of my house and I've had several bird strikes. I don't want to harm my little feathered neighbours so I'm trying these decals: they stick on your window and reflect UV light, so while we can barely see them they're quite visible to most birds.

It's sunny and wonderful out today and I really want to get outside. But this shitty cold is still lingering, so the old guy will chill out this afternoon.

The tribute to The Last Waltz by The Band & friends last night at the Marquee was fantastic. So much skill, so many guests from the Halifax music scene, so much joy, so much love for the songs and original performance. We didn't get all the songs but we got a great sampling of the original concert.

I've always been a fan of Guillermo del Toro's films. Frankenstein is no exception; it's gorgeous and gory and moving. Jacob Elordi gives an amazing physical performance.

I finally got around to watching Alien: Earth. It's pretty good. I can see why some fans of the franchise don't like it but I think new approaches keep things interesting. There are story problems for sure, but it's engaging and violent. Humans are, as always, the worst monsters.

My front porch had old, nasty carpet: I'm not sure why anyone would use that in this part of Canada with so much slush and salt on our boots in winter. So I ripped it up and replaced it with interlocked vinyl flooring.
