That's actually a massive inefficiency in the Irish system, but Andy Farrell doesn't really care about that.
threeredkings.bsky.social
But I'll tell you what, Edogbo and Gleeson going to Chicago as cover is about enough for me — Ahern too — to give it a swing.
threeredkings.bsky.social
Andy Farrell only knows one way to do things, and he's going to do it until the wheels come off.

Want to know why media reality doesn't live up to actual reality?

Start there.

This is particularly true when Leinster play at home versus some half-strength, half-interested team that just wants the game to be over. It's so strong that it's got people talking about the end of the Harry Byrne apprenticeship — again.

Framing Paddy Jackson's contract like this is crazy

This frustrating article is another example of Irish rugby pundits constantly saying that the IRFU somehow didn't do any long-term sucession planning for Sexton, when (as the article itself admits) multiple alternatives were in fact given an extended run and for various reasons haven't worked out.

One thing that consistently shows up in the Irish Rugby Media is this blindness towards the relative strength of opposition. Consistently provokes the daftest, bar-stool adjacent takes possible from a rotation of chancers desperate for the appearance fee.

The main drivers of the Sam vs Jack "discourse" have always been, and continue to be, the mainstream rugby media.

It's too lucrative. Almost all the divisiveness has its root there. Why? It creates click-through, and listens, and that's all that matters.

I always find it a bit odd when Irish journalists have a pop at South African rugby and PEDs, especially when it comes to any mention of drug testing in schools, like during Craven Week.

They are actually finding positive tests at that age grade, whereas we don't test at that level at all.
Sport Ireland CEO: 'We have no anti-doping jurisdiction over Irish schools' rugby'
The possibility that performance enhancers are being used within schools’ rugby has been raised in the media recently but without any evidence and there is currently no way to detect it given that Spo...

My Google feed in my phone is basically chock full with media outlets trying to twist POMs wildly positive remarks about Rassie Erasmus into barely credible rage bait with out of context scare quotes.

Times are tough out there in the slop mines.
threeredkings.bsky.social
That was some scrap.

Cardiff are such a tricky, gnarly side. Great at playing on the back foot, good set piece, no problem kicking at volume and playing off that.

Not a vintage win by any means, but a good one

How Piardi missed that penalty against Moodie I'll never kn-

[Remembers the "too many rules" fiasco in Thomond Park a few months ago]

Actually never mind.

No, it was an RTE journalist
threeredkings.bsky.social
I was on for this press conference, and it was pretty clear that McMillan was joking when he said "never say never" and plainly didn't want to give a "we're not interested" answer that might be seen as disrespectful to Murray, especially after the controversy of a few weeks ago
threeredkings.bsky.social
Not injured, integrating back in with full training. McMillan said he wasn't considered here because we have cover but should be in the mix soon
threeredkings.bsky.social
And when I say he was asked *repeatedly*, the journalist from RTE brought Conor Murray up over and over again in the space of a few questions.
threeredkings.bsky.social
Seven of those twelve are minor injuries that will see the player back in training next week

But that doesn't get the click.

threeredkings.bsky.social
He was training at the open day in Castleisland, but separately. Heard he had a knock that isn't an injury but that might keep him out for an extra week
threeredkings.bsky.social
He's back training fully, just a week or two behind. Not listed as injured in the most transparent injury report in the URC
threeredkings.bsky.social
Most of the injured players are back in training next week.

That injury list is already looking g very long at this early stage of the season. Concerning.
