something I want to talk about eventually is how my appearance changing hasn’t really meaningfully reduced the amount of transphobia I experience in public, probably due in part to the political climate getting Fucking Weird somewhere along the way, but

I don’t know how to explain to my friends who hatched in the 2020s how different it was to come out in 2011 and experience things like this as an active part of the community

It feels like people are desperately seeking reasons to still think she sucks even though the facts don't bear that out. If hundreds of millions of people were saying something false about me and it ruined my life, I would want to respond!

They didn’t specify how much they actually got off of me, but from the sound of it part of why I feel like shit 24/7 is because about 5% of my total body weight went missing very suddenly and my body is upset with me about it

Publishers have always been risk-averse, and this has gotten incrementally worse, but the last 5 years have accelerated it drastically. We see this with streamers, as well. Everything now *needs* to be a breakout/blockbuster that makes a gajillion. There's far less room for different stories.

It's hard to determine whether the blame lies more with trans advocacy abandoning any and all radicalism while trying to find a palatable message for a cissexist society married to sex-essentialism, or with cis people's inherent discomfort with sex being mutable.
All I know is this fucking sucks.
