I got new people following me, which it's time to do the thing I'm worst at: Self promotion!

. . . Buy my Mausritter module. 100% of the money gets donated to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.

Saw someone claim there's a lot of PbtA "slop" being published.

. . . Is there? Legit question. Maybe there is and I just don't see it.

I've sold two copies! That means I've exceeded my sales goals by 200%!

(I like to set easy goals for myself.)
Do you like Brindlewood Bay mysteries? Great!

Do you like creepy dolls? What, no?! Oh well.

New Brindlewood Bay mystery! The sixth annual Creepy Doll Contest is about to start, but the curator (Dr Engelbert von Offenbach, of course) has been murdered!

Under raging storm clouds, a lone figure stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. The vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stares down a sheer cliff at the village below. The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are a horrible goose.

@improvgm.bsky.social's a smart guy!
I think you're on to something. Shopping episodes make sense in an adventure/downtown dichotomy.

The adventure is the GM's story, they're directing the story. Downtime is the player's chance to direct the narrative. So a shopping episode makes a lot of sense in this context.

It does solve the problem of "what are all these creatures eating?" The answer is Hot Dog on a Stick, apparently.
More dungeons should have food courts

I fully do not understand people who enjoy shopping in TTRPGs. I can go shopping in real life. The mall is right there and I have the entire internet on my phone. Why would I also go shopping in a fictional world? That's a chore! I don't want chores, I want adventure and drama.

If a "system neutral" module tells me a monster had "HP: 12, HD: 2, ATK: Sword, d6 DMG" it is NOT A SYSTEM NEUTRAL MODULE.

Vaguely B/X inspired is not system neutral and I'm tired of people saying it is.

If your RPG content is only available on DriveThru the chance that I'll buy it is basically zero.

I'm not even talking about their AI stance or trash political view. Just logging in to my account is a huge pain in the ass.

Say it with me class: "Fantasy racism is still racism."
Being an indie TTRPG designer means explaining to someone in your discord that bioessentialism is bad, them saying they are "offended" by that, leaving the server, and canceling their patreon membership 🙃

It's been a bit, but I finally got to run Daggerheart. I fully stand by this assessment. Daggerheart is the game D&D promises on the back cover but fails to deliver.
I don’t believe in a “D&D killer” rpg, but Daggerheart comes close. It’s the only game targeted at 5e players that’s actually doing something interesting. It’s not trying to be D&D-but-better or “5e compatible”. If PbtA is genre emulation Daggerheart is emulating the genre of 5e.

Ran my first full session of Daggerheart. I really like this game.

*says quietly* the rule of cool props up bad trpgs instead of people accepting they're bad and moving on to games that are actually good.

While we're talking about it, does anyone have a PDF of Dogs in the Wheat Field or Dogs in the Rice Paddies?
Seeking help from the TTRPG community, reposts welcomed!

I'm quite keen on playing through the whole series before I get to the latest installment but try as hard as I might I can't find even pirated copies of 1-9 Candles.

No spoilers please! Thanks in advance! 🙏

There’s a related disease called Haven’t Played Enough TTRPGs to Say What They Can’t or Shouldn’t Do.

“Games can’t do that…”
They can. You’ve just only played 2 games.
