Sometimes 'classic' literature just isn’t enjoyable to read, especially if you’re not used to the writing style of an earlier era. I recently picked up a book by a Very Famous Historic Author for the first time, and just a few chapters in, I’m already struggling.

Had a brilliant time at our Boroughs of London launch at @stanfordstravel.bsky.social last Thursday night. Great audience, lots of thoughtful questions, and plenty of good conversation afterwards. Huge thanks to the Stanfords team for putting it all together!

I’ve been and done a book, with @thisismikehall.com It’s out now! A cartographic celebration of the 32 London boroughs (plus the Square Mile), with around 350 ideas of places to visit. It’s turned out handsomly (even if I haven’t) open.substack.com/pub/londonis...

Couldn't be bothered to scan the whole list - is that the only one he visits twice?
Did notice that he's doing Sheffield-Llanelli-Harlow (my home town)-Great Yarmouth in the space of four days. Absolutely mental.

Finished reading this book only a few days ago. Really makes me want to explore more of central/eastern Europe and visit places like Chernivtsi, Oradea and Sopron (though perhaps not Kaliningrad). Heartily recommend.

You can get my book Borderlines in electronic form for an amazing 99p at the moment; at a time when politicians are fetishising borders, why not look at them in a bit more detail, and get the view from Europe’s borders? www.amazon.co.uk/Borderlines-...

Yikes. Imagine how much petrol station and Welcome Break food this guy is going to get through in 11 months.

This is the maddest tour I've ever seen in my life. It seems like he's doing more gigs than there are days in the year.
A quite insane tour schedule

Plus, it's currently at #38 in the Cultural History of London category on UK Amazon, just a few places behind Samuel Pepys and er, Rick Astley. Not bad for a £30 hardback! Let's see if we can get it higher ⬆️ 😉

Sales rep got back in touch. Apparently I still can't ship to the US yet. 🙃
thisismikehall.com
So apparently Correos are shipping to the US again now. Yay. However, I will need to pay “tariffs”. Booo. Contact your sales rep in order to comply and continue shipping, they said. So I did. And turns out my sales rep is on holiday. So.

Finally, a dumb Trump policy that directly affects me and my business 😐

Currently no shipping to the USA from my online store until further notice - sorry American map fans! Bear with me while I work out a solution.

This, x1000. Speaking as a migrant myself. This perception that immigrants to *any* country have it easy is simply absurd.
paulbernal.bsky.social
Anyone who really knows migrants knows this. We know how hard it is to move to another country, and how much commitment and heartache it takes.
danielsohege.bsky.social
Migrants already "earn the right to settlement" through extortionate visa costs, which can run into tens of thousands of pounds. They prop up key services, including through the Immigration Health Surcharge.

Pushing the hostile environment on steroids helps no-one.
