Also, seeing those dual-screen handhelds definitely sparked interest for me to consider getting one later down the line, and migrating my DS library I have on my Steam Deck/PC to it.

But yeah, there's still movement behind the scenes. Just taking time to get it all together. [🧵4/5]

I also thought about getting a TP pilot episode down by the DS' 21st anniversary next month, but work on that should've started already if I had that goal, so it's likely gonna be 2026 territory.

At most, maybe an Episode 0.5 or something just to say "hey, it's not dead!" is more feasible. [🧵3/5]

Obviously, nothing can be perfect out the gate + it's better to do the thing & make it good later but at the same time, I know it's something I'd like to honestly take time with.

I'm already making moves to change the direction of SYLVER.STREAM in 2026 to work in tandem with THIRD PILLAR. [🧵2/5]

Also wanted to get this out there while I'm somewhat lucid mid-work day:

I still feel a bit upset that things stalled with THIRD PILLAR. I kinda got inside my own head about the presentation style, plus I wanted to dip back into seeing contemporaries and their output a bit more. [🧵1/5]

Under $100? Oh my... that's definitely one to keep an eye on!

The recent rise of dual-screen retro handhelds in the last year or so has been a joy to witness.

Gonna need to compare/contrast some of these with DS models down the line!

A huge thank you to AYN for sending over the new AYN Thor for us to review! Already loving the device, and can’t wait to explore the experience more.

And yes, it feels perfect for any dual screen emulation with those OLED screens.

Believe it or not, there is a somewhat-active Discord server for UMK DS players!

Check it out if you need some opponents to fight, either for regular matches or Puzzle Kombat.

This is a lot of words for what's a $5 digital game, but, it's not just about A Kappa's Trail, but also about Brownie Brown, ex-Square devs becoming Nintendo favorites, and a change in the kind of games and experimentation that Nintendo seems willing to put their energy towards in the last decade.
Re-release this: A Kappa's Trail
A Brownie Brown rarity, in that it's not an RPG, but also in the sense that it released as DSiWare and is no longer available anywhere.

PictoChat is back in a way you probably didn't expect! Anyone got an iPhone?

Remember pulling out your Nintendo DS on the bus and messaging your friends over PictoChat? To bring that feeling back, I made "PicoChat" for iMessage! It's free and open-source (of course), so give it a try and let me know what you think!

This will definitely make a lot of Nintendo DS researching easier in the long run!

Huge kudos to the VGHF for making this possible.

okay, for those who just discover me, I've been working not only on NDS game but also on #gamedev tools running on the #nintendoDS:
sprite editor, level editor, animation editor ... and a game preview with WiFi file swapping.

They're #OpenSource, too.

Polarium was definitely an early sign that the puzzle genre would absolutely blow up on the #NintendoDS.

My first time playing the game was at a DS kiosk in a small electronics store I'd frequently pass by after church on Sundays with my aunt.
The title screen and menu of the Nintendo DS puzzle game, Polarium. The game was published by Nintendo, and developed by Mitchell Corporation.
