I'm watching the SNL Replay on Peacock, and Sabrina Carpenter sings "Nobody's Son" -- and says the F word TWICE...unbleeped. 🤭

Anyone watch it live? Did they miss it in the live show too?

I'm going buy the audio book -- it's got Chris Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Zemeckis, and a bunch other people, plus some of Silvestri's music from the movie along the way.
Yeah, I wonder how far in advance this story was written.

I said he "smartly" talked out of it BECAUSE of that dialogue. It's interesting (for lack of a worse word) to know he was going to write Grace Jones as a Blaxploitation movie character!
Wow! No, I don't think I've ever seen this. (If I have, I've forgotten about it!)

Didn't know was a thing in, what, 1980? I knew she was on the music scene a few yrs before AVtaK, but I didn't know she was in the public eye enough for comics writers to base a character on her. TY for posting that!
Sadly, it was "coded" into her dialogue!

I had actually heard about the Bo Derek thing & forgot about it. If i recall, Derek was in an abusive relationship w/a controlling dude who saw her as a stepping stone for his own career.
Rhoda never said "dy-no-miite" (That's out of Black-family series Good Times)! Or "what's been goin' down here." No, its stereotypical '70s talk given to someone meant to "represent." These panels make me think Claremont wanted her to be Black, & someone smartly talked him & the artist out of it.
No, no. That IS as bad as you remember!😆The invocation of "dy-no-mite" (from Good Times) to "sucker" & the rest.

Wow.
Decided my one-of-a-kind* Tim Burton "Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy" book needed a companion.
(*The cover was bound the wrong way, so when you open the book, all the pages are upside down!)

Which way? Like Donna Reed or a Black man in a Super Fly movie?
Wow, I've never seen this — it might be my favorite piece of the Milestone universe! #SienkiewiczSaturday
#SienkiewiczSaturday! And, as is my new tradition, am posting sequentials! These are from THE NEW MUTANTS.

Please pardon Claremont's use of "You jivin' me, man!" In the '80s, comics writers often wrote Black people like they were in a 1970s Super Fly film (& women like it was 1950s Donna Reed).

The Line It Is Drawn, Week 265: "Based on a suggestion from our own Merk, pick a famous comic book cover, and our artists will draw what happened one moment later."

I will forever wonder if Spielberg purposefully pilfered from The Creature for JAWS or if it's SO ingrained in his head, he didn't realize it.
Oops: *"They" and *"they were trying to do"

(Sometimes I forget about Morrison's change in pronouns—I'm a fan from their earliest Animal Man days.)
His prolix and purposefully complex, and seemingly prepared, reply to the query certainly made it seem (to me) that what he was trying to do was get people to leave him alone about the subject—"confuse them, & maybe they'll go away." Which says to me, he was VERY aware of what it is.
Found #Horror movie BRING HER BACK brilliant! Story of grief & abuse via a VERY twisted lens. MANY complain about "gore"; it's NOT worse than EVIL DEAD or TERRIFIER & IS part of the story. And the psych'l torture is OK??
People SHOULD complain about the '80s-style cleaning house montage! (Yes, rly)
Art by Alessandro Montalto
My biggest complaints, which you may not have seen, are the '80s style clean-the-house montage (!) & the other social worker heading out there in her own car without an officer, which makes little sense if she DOES trust the boy & less if she doesn't.
Just finished this. As seems to be a pattern w/us, I disagree.😲😅
Found the "gore" frightening but necessary to the story. Child abuse is baked in from the start, and, imo, if you're OK w/the woman's mental abuse, the rest isn't any worse. In the end, it's all about a woman's severe mental breakdown.
I forgot to recommend ENGLISH TEACHER on F/X and Hulu. The first 2 or 3 episodes of this season were hysterical, the rest were good, and then the 2nd to last(?) episode is... just very wrong... and wonderful.
I've been enjoying The Lowdown, Chad Powers (to my surprise), and a couple of game shows: Joel McHale has a fun one and celebrity Weakest Link with Jane Lynch.
😆 I didn't spoil it for him; he was just annoyed I figured it out so fast. And based on the locale of a hospital for the opening, no, it couldn't've been anything else.😝

I like horror & comedy, but this was definitely NOT trying to be funny. For that, I recommend new HBO Max movie THE PARENTING.
Is anyone watching THE LOWDOWN? It's by the same creator of RESERVATION DOGS, which everyone couldn't stop talking about. And, imo, the writing in this series is MUCH sharper — it's like an Elmore Leonard novel.
