A final Thanksgiving point - for $20 we did nice plastic flatware and china. Throwing it away instead of doing dishes was absolutely worth $20.

The wife’s best friend and her husband sponsored three families of Afghan refugees in the immediate aftermath of the fall of Kabul. They were all three interpreters assisting the US army, all three families have 7-8 kids each.
The amount of effort those people expend just to survive here is insane
