Hilarious. For me, it's all about comfort and pockets. Once, when I was checking in for one of many long-haul Singapore trips wearing a comfy work shirt and cargo pants, the desk clerk looked me up and down, and said, "Well hello Mr. Ward. Are you here to fly in the plane, or to give it a tune-up?"
Duffy: "Trump talks about the golden age of transportation. But the golden age in transportation truly begins with you ... People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly ... so we want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season: Help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO is one of my all-time favorites, but Udo Kier was a singular presence in every film in which he appeared. RIP you weird wonderful dude.
I was the assistant editor on MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO. I have 9000 stories from that time, and many of them feature this man who passed away this morning, Udo Kier. He would talk about Fassbinder, Warhol and Paul Morrissey for hours. I was so lucky to get to know Udo and he will be missed by so many.

And I feel weird about effusive opinions on del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN. Go figure.
NEW: When RFK Jr. first told Trump that Tylenol might cause autism, the president wanted to tweet out a warning. Kennedy told him not to do that. There was nuance, and the drug companies would push back. “I don’t give a shit about that,” Trump responded. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

Seeing people criticizing del Toro for his "fuckable monsters." Such a laughable misunderstanding of the love that drives his whole project.

The Snyderverse, but for Gothic monster movies.
Shelley: FINALLY, someone understands my vision!
King: and what's your vision, mary?
Shelley: that frankenstein is super fuckable
King: the doctor or the monster?
Shelley: why not both?
del Toro: yeah, why not both?

I was overwhelmed by the visual attention to detail. The casting was exquisite...I want to see Mia Goth in a lot more things. Elordi was a risk, but absolutely paid off, both literally and sub-textually.
You beautiful man, @realgdt.bsky.social, what a gorgeous creature you made. And thank you for the maple leaf.

Trump absolutely showed up the Dems with that extraordinary presser with Mamdani. He managed to glom onto the affordability topic, while over 80 House Dems voted "anti-socialism" earlier. The inability of the fed Dems to gauge the wind is embarrassing and, frankly, incompetent.

This horrific industry is very quickly heading for the same defense used by gun manufacturers and their lobbyists—they just make the tools, but they're not responsible for how they're used.
This is a nuts story. An AI chatbot and image platform left millions of images exposed. They show what people are actually using the AI for: taking random women's yearbook, graduation, and social media photos and making super realistic hardcore porn with them

The real danger being exposed is just how much the average American is insulated from federal politics. Sure, affordability is absolutely a thing. Healthcare is a thing. But if everyone was perceiving the vile corruption happening in DC and how it's destroying lives, the nation would be burning.

It would be super-cool if the GOP-led House (now that they're at fucking work) and Senate could come together on shit other than a heinous sex trafficking scandal, but what do I know.

I'm not sure how many times people need to scream that the most politically powerful man in the world is a narcissistic sociopath. But I do know he will use that power to make sure the Epstein files do not take him down. There's simply not enough people who fear going down with his ship.
The president of the United States said this today: “A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen.”

Context: journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered and dismembered by a Saudi hit squad and his body parts dispersed.

I do believe many GOPers, especially Marjorie Taylor Greene, want the files public, but not for victim justice or to embarrass some Dems. They see a means of busting up the MAGA log jamb & to create a path past 2026 & on to Super Tuesday. It wouldn't surprise me one bit that MTG is eyeing the Oval.
I just can't get excited about that virtually unanimous House vote to release the Epstein files. Sure, some bad men may go down, and that's good. There's no reason to believe the cover-up won't otherwise continue.

Despite hearing "things happen", that ABC News journalist keeps going after him. Good for her.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Kudos to the ABC News reporter who went hard at both Trump and MBS with her questions.
