When it gets really cold bluebirds roost together in a pile using collective body heat to help them survive. They arrange themselves so they don’t smother & alternate positions within the pile. Photo by Wildlife Rehabilitators of North Carolina (WRNC). Thank you Van Harris for sharing this. 🐦 #birds

1 Ever wondered why pigeons bob their heads walking down the street ? It's all in their eyeballs. Like most Avian retinas pigeons have double cone receptors which helps them encode luminance, sense polarise light and aid magneto-reception which helps racing pigeons navigate @mybirdcards.com

'The Quiet Cottage'

A classic image made in #Connemara, back in 2020. One of those shoots that just stays with you. I’ve since photographed this location a few times since, but never as successfully as I did on my first visit.

Some gorgeous double-breasted cormorants by Canada Place in Vancouver Harbour. Fun fact, even though they dive underwater to hunt, their feathers aren't waterproof. They spend a lot of time stretching out their wings to dry themselves on land after hunting. #birds #photography
