I’m an ICU nurse with interests in end of life care, technology and medication safety. Out of work food, Pilates, coffee and swimming probably not in that order. PwLC since November ‘22 She/her

My exercise physiologist said that was the advice ~15 months ago (my last infection). But there is no awareness of this amongst most of the public thanks to the ‘just a cold’ forced narrative.
Some of the articles in this thread still mention the dreaded CBT but at least there is caution against exercise & activity.
‘Guidance from the NHS emphasises that your symptoms could worsen if you've been under stress or if you're more physically active. It adds that people battling long-Covid should "not start exercising again before talking to a GP or specialist"’

I think that’s being kind. They must be awful now with less chocolate in them.
I grew up with penguins but eating a Tim Tam means that penguins are never the same again, they are below ordinary in comparison.
The two of them are dreadful & are welcome to spend time with each other but NOT at the taxpayers expense.
It's a sad day that corrupt politicians are now allowed to fly to Gina Rinehart's lavish birthday party, and then claim it as a travel expense.

Pauline Hanson was a special guest of Gina.

We can only assume that Gina must be supporting One Nation.

Oh that’s no good! Perhaps you’ll be able to find a good one 2nd hand?
B*stards make it difficult. I’m hoping Tidal will be good, planning on giving it a try at some point. Meanwhile I have CDs 😁
Unsurprising that it’s these two countries.

Beautiful picture of my home tow-un. Rarely does it look so good.
Currently moored in Kidderminster on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal. Anyone who’s travelled here will recognise this view, but with these wonderful autumn colours I just couldn’t resist!

Kidderminster must be the most obscure venue for an Australian best.
Best ODI figures by an Australian woman:

There is very little clinical care available unless you can afford to pay for it. Even less care available to those with severe & very severe illness. The people most ill get least help.
Mark: The critical importance of high quality research and translation to clinical care.
Thanks for taking the time to write such an informative thread @emergeaustralia.bsky.social I definitely check out the recording when it’s available!
Epic & essential thread for those navigating 🪫🪫🪫 MECFS, long covid & associated conditions in Australia ⬇️
Welcome to Emerge Australia’s #mecfs and #longCOVID Action Forum event in Parliament House, Canberra, today. Our event, “From stigma to science: educating for change” is live streamed. You can register here: us02web.zoom.us/meeting/regi...

We will be live posting on this thread. 🧵
I’m fortunate that income protection (for now) means I don’t have to apply for DSP, it is however not much more than DSP & things are tight. NDIS would probably help my quality of life but cognitively I don’t have capacity to complete the forms.
The NDIS and DSP are not designed to be navigated by people with energy limited conditions. The paperwork and decision making is often insurmountable.

As much as I enjoy Connections it takes inspiration from one of my favourites Only Connect hosted by the superb @vcorenmitchell.bsky.social & here is the proof.
But yes generally smart devices aren’t much help to most, although for some they do help with accessibility more than older forms of automation.
My bedroom AC was connected to my modem until NBN upgrade & it was great because I could switch on AC when I left work & room was cool by the time I got home. Post NBN couldn’t make it connect to the new modem & currently I’m not working anyway so the remote does exactly what I need it to.
I spent ages trying to connect my air fryer to the internet until I realised it (connection not the air fryer) didn’t serve any purpose!
I wonder if that’s what happened with me. My second infection coincided with the start of a slow, steady improvement in my baseline & less PEM. Whatever it was, I take nothing for granted & continue to do my best to avoid catching anything else.
I’ve had 1 reinfection & fortunately it didn’t make me any worse, might even have helped a little. I wish the same fortune for your friend.
I hope she ‘gets away with it’. Being well enough to live even a little better feels like a double edged sword. The risks of infection increase the more you’re able to be a part of your community because very few others give a f**k
I got hit while I was out for a walk on Monday, the magpie circled for a second go! Luckily I managed to escape without injury 🤣 I’m hemmed in on two sides by swooping birds this year 😆
