The reason there was no FAMAS in MGS2 was because when the game came out Yoji Shinkawa, the artist for mgs and a gun nut, had mentioned that the FAMAS had been taken out of service so it was replaced with an M9. However, this happened so late in development that the FAMAS can be seen in the demo
