A snow-covered forest region bordered by snow laden cliffs and icy water. Four named settlements glow with soft golden light through dense trees: Holbrow in the northwest, Velven in the southwest, Kindlebranch in the northeast near a wooden bridge, and Neventhe in the southeast near the water’s edge. The landscape transitions from this sheets of ice and snow at the edges to vibrant green within.

In the sky above every settlement, floats a soft halo of amber-gold orbs high above the treetops, this is the Sapstream. These create a network of sorts, with the Sapstream constantly moving, able to supply arcane energies to the settlements below, suspended & stabilised by arcane means both natural and Orcan.

The map shows the Tidal Dunes, a wide expanse of golden desert where seven large dunes rise and fall like waves caught in motion. The dunes dominate the scene, their ridges and slopes curling as if shaped by an unseen storm.

Across the sands are scattered signs of habitation: two larger settlements built upon dunes, marked by structures and glowing crystal formations, while elsewhere ruins and fragments of stonework lie half-buried. Clusters of palm trees and sparse vegetation break the monotony of the sand, giving hints of life in the desert.

The Restless Dreamer of the Tidal Dunes

The Tidal Dunes are a vast stretch of the Golden Expanse, where seven peaks roil as if caught in a crawling oceanic storm.

Zenythan folklore attributes this phenomenon to The Restless Dreamer; an enormous eel-like creature slumbering beneath the sands. It is said their dream began before Zenytha itself and will continue until Alagrestia wanes into dust and memory. No one has ever seen this colossal being, yet the results of its tumultuous tossing and turning paint a clear picture for the locals.

Kreelpers resemble large floating clumps if kelp, spending most of their lives drifting with the tides. Small fish & ocean life will seek shelter amongst its fronds, only to be swiftly speared by a viney tendril and delivered to the Kreelper's waiting maw.

As they float across the waters, Kreelpers will often merge together, creating a much larger, more aggressive beast. With the added mobility and power of the swarm, they are able to ensnare and devour much larger prey.

Additionally as they swarm they begin to emit a noxious oil like substance, toxic to any non-plant based life that should mistake it for a safe harbour from the great blue void.

Oooh yes love a good flashback! I like to give my players the chance to flesh out their backstory in game too, so that's a great idea ☺️

The dream was kind of half flashback come to think of it, as they were pulled into a "genetic memory" of sorts 😅

🧵(/end) I got to drop a lot of lore, plant seeds for future plot & answer lots of player questions. It was so much fun & gave me a big confidence boost, as both players really enjoyed themselves 😊 I've now prepped dreams for each player, so I have them to fall back on if needed.
