I was at a talk last week, and I gave an example of a quick & dirty narrative rule for keeping an audience onboard for repeated outings of existing characters. People seemed to appreciate it, so I thought I’d share it here, too.

It’s not *my* rule, I learned it during my masters! But it’s v. handy!

actually fuck it johnny's sex escapades are as important as literally everything else in the book. its the antithesis to his isolation and paranoia, its an obvious theme of desire for connection, its really goddamn human when all is said and done. and im not even good at literary analysis.

a million words have been said about house of leaves already but my two cents is that its a book i heavily resonate with. chaotic, irregular and desperate to speak even as it talks over itself. relatable.
(yes, including johnny's tangents about his sex escapades.)

sounds real tempting, but i heard from a friend this makes 99% of hub locations extremely dangerous due to how many people turn hostile after you kill him? that and you cant just loot most of his credits, gotta do another whole long-ass sidequest to get those
