Simeon Brown wouldn’t understand ethics if the bridge he was running over after taking candy from a baby collapsed due to the engineer skipping the calculations to spend more time chatting up the receptionist and the builder only using half the concrete and pocketing the money.

But removing scientists and experts is the basis of totalitarianism… get rid of everyone who knows to speak up

I just thought it was a trick to get people to buy a’merkin

the year is 2030. a doctor solemnly informs you that you have plastic in your testicles bc millions of people persuaded by celebrity marketing bought synthetic pubic hairs that were eventually consumed by fish that you ate
The Daily Beast writes: "Kim Kardashian's brand SKIMS has sold out its synthetic pubic hair thongs and is now accumulating a waitlist for the product." Their tweet is accompanied by a link to a post with the story.

I wish people would actually listen when you tell them that someone is a convicted sex offender who fled a country to avoid jail for breaching a protection order and to avoid paying spousal or child support. Especially when you have the court documents to prove it.

But no. They’re the victim.

I’m still upset that they never finished the series. Something about “children can’t follow a multi-year story arc”

8 year old me could and was thank you very much!

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

You also need intent to commit an imprisonable offence inside the property. If you throw a brick and it breaks a window and say, cash falls out and you take it, that’s burglary. But if you didn’t intend to commit another crime inside then it’s just criminal damage.
thea.hutchings.gen.nz
You beat me to copying that part in to a reply :)

And you also need intent to commit an offence while inside. Intent is nine tenths of the law as always.

Crimes Act 1961 S231

Every one commits burglary … who—
1 (a) enters any building, …, without authority and with intent to commit an imprisonable offence …; or
(b) having entered any building …

Yeah, you have to get some part of your body inside.

Burning fuel and running checklists. It‘s a small 737-800, only large planes can dump fuel.

They can land overweight but it needs a major airframe inspection if they do, so if they’re not in a rush they’ll just do laps. Take your time, check all the systems, then make a plan to land.

I definitely have Opinions on the levels of estradiol and the use of a synthetic progestin for long term therapy.

The trials show its enough to stop osteoporosis though, but I can‘t see any reports on mood effect.

Pity drs are unlikely to prescribe an equivalent dose of funded meds, they exist!
thea.hutchings.gen.nz
Hopefully the drug helps people though!

Pity there’s no research on doing the same thing with funded meds, even though it’s essentially the same as transfem GAHT.

I’ve clearly spent too much time reading in to endocrinology :)
thea.hutchings.gen.nz
Neat that there’s another option for people with endometriosis: www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

It’s a combination of a drug to put you in menopause and not enough estrogen + progesterone to make you feel normal afterwards. Well, it’s norethisterone acetate, not a great option really.
New treatment for endometriosis now available in New Zealand
An oral tablet taken once daily will set you back about $250 a month.

They made a nice graph showing the regular line and mine starting to fall off over 4kHz.

We also did a test of voices over background noise and wow did that go poorly.

Went to the audiologist last week. They said I might need hearing aids. I put my Airpods in to hearing aid mode and… well fuck.

It's mostly just EQ to boost the treble, but it really helps.

The kids are following the example set by politicians!

Why do hard work for poverty wages when you can fly off to Hawaii twice a year and take half of the money from people actually doing the hard work as “rent”.

Nothing so grand as Australia. The future is apparently kumara farming in Dargaville.

I wish I was joking.

(via www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...)
Asked where the jobs were for these young people, the prime minister pointed to the kūmara industry, which he had recently visited in Dargaville.

"[They're] desperate to get young people into it, find out that young people show up for a work for a little bit and then bugger off and don't show up the rest of the week. That's what we're trying to get, we're trying to get those young people connected with work so they can actually learn to show up on time, have a work ethic, join a team, work hard, and get some self-worth from it."

“The world doesn’t owe you a living”

So I guess parents need to prove future income before they’re allowed to have a child, because I don’t recall being asked if I want to be in this world.

I wish it was possible for an independent media company to get market share without bucketloads of money. We have The Spinoff but there’s only so much they can do.

Well. There’s 6 News as an actual example, but it’s cheaper when you live with your parents.
