NASA's philosophy with the SLS rocket is very literally "test like you fly". Despite being behind schedule and over budget, it got to the moon and back on its maiden flight. SpaceX (also being schedule and over budget), makes explosions to entertainment. Very very different work cultures.

There's a lot of talk about inspiring future STEM workers, including girls, at Jared Isaacman's hearing today to be the next NASA administrator. That will be harder to accomplish since NASA has recently demolished many initiatives to bring underrepresented groups into science.

Just finished reading an ARC of "These Heathens" by @miamckenzie.bsky.social - a longer review on GoodReads is to come, but can I just say: what a hilarious, bittersweet, fascinating look at the intersection of the civil rights movement and Black queer history. Doris is now one of my fav protags.
