This is such an important and overlooked distinction. I don’t want government regulations and control. I want to be able to earn a comfortable living while protecting myself properly without the fear of retribution.
I support decriminalization. Not legalization. Legalization means subject to regulation under the law. I do not want to be regulated by the law. Decriminalization means sex work is no longer a criminal act. Then, we would have the opportunity to get the same protections as other types of workers.
Open societies must defend sex work. It's simply an ethical question. Protections must be implemented and illegal mafias prosecuted. But why baning a job that a person wants to do? Specially such a complex and engaging one?
