Europeans* have gotten so detached from war we are not afraid of it enough. Consequently, not only do not people appreciate peace enough, awfully many take it for granted. I saw someone say that if peace was the only in thing EU had given us in Europe, it would still be worth it. That's 100% true.

I've gotten back to playing FFXIV! It's such a comforting game to return to. After a couple of false returns over the past couple of years I've now stuck to it too.

While timing with the new year is mostly coincidental, I have decided to start treating myself better. I’m going to go get my teeth fixed, I’m going to start working out and I’ll try to prioritize my time and resources better. E.g. I’ll try to build a wardrobe of nice, but long-lasting clothes.

Having a lot of fun playing Demonschool. Wonderful game to play on the deck, with fun characters and surprisingly fun writing combined with engaging combat mechanics.

I don't understand how much it can feel like my parents and I live in different worlds. Like we speak the same language but on a completely different wavelength. And it's not a recent development, it's been always like that. My siblings don't have that issue with parents, but also not with me either

Steam Replay 2025 was at first a surprise, but I guess it checks out. It's been busy, stressful enough year that my top 3 is solely chill building games. Also, in general, just less hours in Steam games.

It's kinda sad that whether positive or negative, we somehow always end up with how attractive people think a female protagonist is dominating online discourse when a new game is announced.

Anyone who enjoyed Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3 would enjoy Viconia DeVir in Baldur's Gate 2. The two women hit some similar notes due to them both being drow, but they are also vastly different. Viconia one of the first to teach to me as a kid how multifaceted video game characters can be.

Someone, and my department too, really came through for me and arranged it so I can wrap up the one missing class within coming week. I feel like I've spent a lot of goodwill I hadn't known I had 😅 Oh, got my thesis grade today too and I'm very content with it too.

Trying to get anything resolved at the university is such pain because getting email replies from anyone takes like at least a week usually. It's not their fault, there's million emails and they're wicked busy, but as a student it really sucks.

If anyone has tips on how to get into the genre or what you like in it in particular I’d love to hear! 🫶
Ever had a genre you just can't get into? That's super heroes for me and I'm not sure why. I just can't. Even if I recognize like advantages supes have, like ability to use familiar real life locations and themes. I really liked Spider Man Miles Morales game and the setting was a big part of it.

Fever thoughts have brought me to the realization I am the last generation of people from my home village. It is almost completely empty already. We have all moved out but I have had the privilege of hearing the stories and the history, very human-scale mind you, nothing epic, from older people.

I got sick with stomach flu or food poisoning idk and everything else aside, I had forgotten how _boring_ this can be. No energy to do anything but also after hours of just lying on the couch I'm just so bored.
