Books I've read 2025, focusing on the fiction 📚
I've begun practicing meditation again and it somehow led to me realize how much I just am a city person. I love being in a city, hearing the tram and the cars, even the distant construction sounds. Scrape of a snow plow. Wind between the buildings. And I was born a rural farm girl 😅

I can't believe this has to be still said in 2025 Common Era, but fantasy does not mean the story world doesn't need its own internal logic and rules. It also does not mean that the story does not have to follow said rules. People who like and people who dislike the genre use this as a cop out.

It feels like almost poetic to be on one hand writing a critical essay on constructed ideas of the past and of the folk that have been integral processes of romantic nationalism. Ideas of timelessness. On the other hand I am listening to a video on how everything decays, from culture to buildings.

I have been eating rice and beans for lunch for a week now. Been just warming up frozen veggies and adding salsa in and it's been nice every day. Most importantly, it's wicked easy and pretty affordable. Switching from Tex Mex flavors to East Asian this week, and continue eating rice and beans 😎

Ha-ha, the road I took here is full of twists and turns. Failed to get into an IT program when I was 19 just to realize I don't want to work in IT during that gap year. Got into history program the next year. I've been always into history and several people in my extended family have degrees in it.

My supervisor left a comment saying ctrl + f found 22 instances I used a same expression in my thesis. I cut it down to like 5, and added an entirely new instance of using it.

I have this irrational fear that I'm focusing on wrong ideas, that "better" ones could be just around the corner.

Friday I had a meeting about my thesis and it basically couldn't have gone better. I'll get grade in a month, but I basically know which grade to expect 👀 Went to a lovely tea house with wife after, and before Shabbat service. It was a good day. 🥰

I've been a player in a Dolmenwood campaign and it's been just a blast. It's a fantasy setting, and game, inspired by British folklore and it's just beyond phenomenal. Having so much fun playing a human magic-user in a party with a knight, a woodsman, and two demi-fairies a grimalkin and a woodgrue.
