Ooh I love that approach! I like when the sandbox/survival game space is compact, makes me value it more. And I think it could lead to more interesting design decisions.

From what I know many open world games do this kind of thing by just running the "logic" part of the simulation in the background, without any rendering or intensive stuff like navigation. I guess it's much easier in a finite world.
Oh btw will the world be infinite or will it have boundaries?

watching Scorpy's Kingdom Hearts playthrough and man that game is awesome. I wish I played it as a kid, I'd probably get so inspired and changed for the better.
Though there's a high chance I'd abandon it after the first 40 minutes because most of it is just "collect 10 things", I'd get lost and cry

Same thing with music, it may be the most inaccessible field for me. It's too much at once.
But I'm much more accepting of that. Music might be the only aspect I'd be willing to pay someone to do.
Not that I wouldn't want to hire a competent writer or an artist, it's just a budgeting issue.
