This sounds like a stupid thing to be so hyped about but just some unimaginably awful shit went down during my time in school (not the fault of said school at all. They have been incredibly generous and supportive to me). There were points I did not think Id live this long
Guys. I think I am going to pass everything and graduate

It's not enough to say, "here's an approach that can solve a problem." You have to show it fully in real people's lives. That's what @annneumann.bsky.social does in this rich exploration of programs that keep addicted moms & babies together while moms get sober. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
She was pregnant and addicted to fentanyl. Getting to keep her baby saved them both
A baby is born in withdrawal every 18 minutes in the US, and most end up in foster care. At centers like Maddie’s Place, mothers stay with their infants – and leave together, in recovery

There are so many people living lives of quiet dignity despite horrific medical news or poverty or tragedy where every day they still wake up and try to be good people in the world even as the world pushes against them and it makes me even angrier at the absolute shitheads that rule over things

Wait I forgot about this. Why are you using twink like a slur. Lol
Kat told @timmiller.bsky.social she was a *REAGAN REPUBLICAN* in *HIGH SCHOOL*.

And neither Tim nor his GenZ twink cohost Kyle asked her to make that make sense.

How could a 28 year old have been a Reagan Republican during the final years of Obama’s 2nd term?

How??? youtu.be/3daDf_iih5g?...

ML applications are sometimes used in military settings to kill people, and by LE to racially profile, also, so I'm extremely critical of a lot of commercial ML applications. The new tool of the surveillance state
Whenever I mention AI on here, I am encouraged to note the difference between AI in the form of large language models (LLMs), which everyone hates, and AI in the form of machine learning (ML), which everyone seems to feel is just fine.

Question: is there a clear distinction or is it a spectrum?

we are well past the point at which anyone who cannot identify bad faith like this is disqualified from commenting on it

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

More to the point we are not in active hostilities - it's just straight up murder. Killing non-combatants is a typical war crime. I think the issue is that some people might think there's a colorable argument for the first strikes whereas the second strikes on wrecked ships are straight up illegal.
one of the problems I have with Democrats (and other critics) labeling these "war crimes" is that it accepts the underlying claim that the people being murdered are enemy combatants. They're not! it's just murder!
Fox News' Joey Jones justifies the US military killing survivors after an initial boat strike: "An enemy combatant does not have to have a gun to be a danger or a threat... if you leave anybody alive, they can signal and let others know what’s happening and they can also retaliate through radio."

It means that your parents or surrounding adults talked about him a lot and you formed your political identity from them lol I don't really understand why you are so deliberately dense. Not everyone's political identity draws from a specific current zeitgeist
Funny thing is, I do understand Reagan as a political mythos – that’s exactly my point. If you’re 28, your high school years were 2010–14, long after Reagan and deep into Bush/Tea Party/Palin. So what does calling yourself a ‘Reagan Republican’ then actually mean in practice?
December 1, 2025 at 5:16 PM
Guy who doesn't understand the basic concept of strains of politics inspired by historical personalities. Such as Reagan who has a whole fucking mythos around him
