The loss of a sense of humanity is astounding. Now I know why Markus removed South Carolina

I just received the most amazing package in the mail today! My dear friend @mandipanda17.bsky.social is an indigenous beadwork artist, and she accepted a commission of the Thunder on the Plains logo in her beadwork style. Thank you so much, Mandi!

The lie that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was justified is still being perpetrated in the US. We live in a country of cognitive dissonance because we have never grappled with this war crime, nor the racist justification for it. There is a reason they did not drop nukes on Europe.

On August 6, 1945 at 8:15 a.m., the US dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of #Hiroshima, the first time in human history that any country used the unparalleled power and devastation of atomic bombs. The US remains the only country to use nuclear weapons during a time of war.
Black and white photograph of the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall is known today as the Atomic Bomb Dome, circa October-November, 1945.

My dad surprised me with one in college and I cried. We grew up poor and even a cheap system felt like an extravagance.

One of the worst parts about late-stage capitalism: I just found out a KZUM DJ friend passed away from cancer. And I have to sit in a "Project Touchbase" call for the next hour and pretend that the world isn't falling apart.

Only about $1.60 of tax dollars per US citizen per year was spent on the public broadcasting budget.

If you donate $20 a year, you're covering what your tax dollars would have done. If you do a monthly donation of $7, your donation can equal the tax dollars of 54 people spent on PBS per year.

I just had an epiphany: As a kid, I loved snow globes. Now, I am captivated by liquid core dice.

The 95mm liquid core Chonk d20 is my new snow globe.

I have to admit I did not see the new Pope coming in hard on AI on day 2 but I am glad to see it
clairewillett.bsky.social
if an American pope takes up AI under the seven themes of Catholic social teaching (of which one is “The Dignity of Work & the Rights of Workers” and another is “Care and Stewardship of God’s Creation”) all the worst Catholics in America might just keel over on the spot and save us all some trouble
The new pope said on Saturday he had taken his papal name partly to honor Pope Leo XIIII (1878-1903), who was known as an advocate for social justice and pushed for fair pay and treatment of workers during the industrial revolution.
Leo XIV said the Church must now take the lead in facing newer threats to workers, such as artificial intelligence.
He said Al posed "new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice and labour."
