The US is a great place to live for the super rich and super famous. For everyone else, plenty of other places would offer a better life. And yet, a big chunk of the latter group doesn't demand better from the US, because the former group convinced them that they too could be rich or famous someday.
If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

I have to think this has been the plan for the last 10+ years.
Putin finally figured out how to dismantle NATO.
He didn’t need missiles, or even oil, or natural gas.
All he needed was a 5th grade educated American white bigot.

The hate and racism would do the rest.

My wife and I agree.
Stuff looks nasty.
Is the Applebees OMCheeseburger from the nightmares of a toddler? Like, does anyone see that as appealing? Or am I the weird one?

Minnesotans are waving American flags.
The head of ICE dresses like a Nazi.
Greg Bovino was seen earlier today at the Minneapolis ICE facility dressed in a very nazi-inspired outfit. They don’t even hide anymore.

In any other presidential administration this would have been a gigantic scandal. Now everyone just shrugs.

It is my hope... and yes... I know it is early... that in the future... we will look back at today and see it as an inflection point — to a better Virginia and a rebirth of American freedom.
☀️ Good morning, Virginia! Today at noon, the work begins.

The world is leaving America behind.

Because America has forgotten everything that made her strong.
NEWS: Canada just checkmated the United States.

Breaking with the U.S., Canada has struck a major deal with China: Ottawa will cut its 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles in exchange for dramatically lower tariffs on Canadian farm products.

This isn't just bad news for our auto industry — it’s a blow to American workers.

And it's only happening because Donald Trump is pushing our allies away by chasing vanity projects like annexing Canada and Greenland.

That’s not leadership, that’s chaos.

Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.
Breaking news: The Justice Department has issued subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as part of an investigation alleging that they are impeding federal law enforcement officers’ abilities to do their jobs in the state.

We are a deeply unserious country.
Q: Can you explain how your healthcare plan will affect premiums?

TRUMP: It's a tremendous thing. It's called the great healthcare plan. And we're gonna get tremendous, uh, reductions through, uh, if you look at prescription drugs, they're gonna come down by numbers that have never been seen before

i’ll say it again, jennings is a contemptible liar and it is a disgrace that CNN puts him on television every night to spread bullshit
The thing is, some people can make mistakes, get things wrong, be careless, etc. But that’s not what Jennings did here. Jennings knowingly, purposefully and intentionally lied to utterly distort what was said, which CNN pays him to do every day. CNN is the enabler of this.

In every photo I see, every time, I cannot get over the fact that they’re all wearing masks. Police don’t wear masks. Everyday soldiers don’t wear masks. Thugs, criminals and special forces (ie those from whom swift violence is expected) conceal their faces. The signal could not be clearer.

Thought bubble over Trump’s remaining two brain cells:

“If we italicize the word great, it’ll convince the base that it is great, it’s healthcare like no one’s ever seen before. The greatest. It’s great. Make sure to tell them”.
