The only people offended by it are actual die-hard racists that wouldn't be convinced regardless of the slogan. It's not "losing" a crowd but rather identifying them as beyond hope.
BLM isn't even an accusation, it's an invitation to join in the very simplest common ground, that we're all humans who deserve to live (work on the other human rights afterwards but this is a start).
And they couldn't even acknowledge that. Of course it proves they're racist.

I was born in 1972. The replacement rate he's panicked about has been below 2.1% for almost every year of my life.

If you're really worried about the population falling, giving immigrants a path to citizenship is an obvious and easy solution.

Unless there's ... something about them you don't like?
RFK Jr: "When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5%. Today it is 1.6%. The replacement rate -- in other words the amount of fertility you need to keep your population even -- is 2.1%. We are below replacement. That is a national security threat to our country."
I get why their misunderstanding of CRT would make them defensive, but BLM is just basic language that can't be misunderstood, and EVEN SO they're fine with saying "No they don't."
We didn't have many options for Saturday Morning Cartoons, so I had to see a few of these, but I didn't like them.
I would've thought that "Black Lives Matter" was also something so obvious that everyone could agree on, but no.
My brain keeps trying to suppress the memory of this cursed show but someone posts this every other year and re-traumatizes me😵
What's the UK equivalent? Just say "Order" really loudly?

Topics Mike Johnson thinks are serious:

- Super Bowl halftime entertainer
- getting a Nobel Prize for Trump
- terrifying naked bike riders

Topics he thinks are not serious:

- Epstein Files
- domestic violence
- being able to keep the govt open
- the neutering of Congress
Q: This has been reported for a while. Cory Mills was accused of beating a girlfriend in his DC apt. Are you concerned about these allegations?

JOHNSON: You have to ask Rep. Mills about that. He's been a faithful colleague. I don't know the details. Let's talk about things that are really serious
I remember the end of the opening credits had him saying "It works for me." So now whenever I hear that phrase I think of Hunter.
Haven't seen it in 35 years so I don't remember much else about it.

federal agents stealing children and sending them south. where have i heard about that before?
ICE kidnapped a 7th-grader with a pending asylum claim and spirited him out of state without notifying his parents, seemingly with the cooperation of the local police in Everett, MA.

There's no "regular politics" anymore because you can no longer maintain the idea that we all agree on common goals but we only differ about the means of getting there or whatever. The guys in charge now are plainly amoral, sadistic nihilists. They delight in it! You can't civilly disagree with that

How is AI going to get smarter if it bases itself on inputs from people who are becoming increasingly lazy thanks to AI? It's a perpetuating cycle of laziness.
Insert all the comments about Dunning-Kruger, "peak of Mt. Stupid," etc

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

"Depends on who you ask" framing is one of the most grating tics in modern political journalism. Objective reality exists and your job is to describe it.
A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.
Someone once framed it as the "skeptic" saying, "That's just Biology 101 !“ and the teacher saying something like, "When you take Biology *201* you'll learn the exceptions and why it's not nearly that simple."

I really believe that huge majorities of Americans don’t want masked soldiers shooting priests in the street. They don’t want naked children ripped out out of their apartments in the middle of the night and handcuffed. We win by making sure these stories get told.
The same people who insisted devout Catholic Joe Biden was leading a “war on Christianity” are now cheering Trump on as his armed goons assault clergymen.
WATCH: Trump’s lawless Ice goons shoot an unarmed priest in the head with a pepper ball. Completely out of control.

This, to me, is so telling. When proven wrong, Bari Weiss invites her critic on a podcast. The rotten fruit of the "debate" tree, the fetishization of debate as a conversation in which one "wins" or "loses," "owns" or is "owned." A side-effect of capitalism's anti-intellectual higher ed arms race.
perhaps the biggest story TFPever ran was a catastrophically shoddy argument that George Floyd ackshully died of an overdose. When confronted with irrefutable evidence that the piece was simply wrong, Weiss didn’t take it down, she asked her critic, @radleybalko.bsky.social, to come on a podcast.

Sending troops from Texas to forcefully occupy and suppress cities in Illinois and Oregon IN OPPOSITION TO THOSE STATES' GOVERNORS is literally a civil war and it's cooking my brain that Democrats are simply pretending it isn't happening
UPDATE: Hegseth today called up 400 members of the Texas National Guard, with Gov. Abbott's apparent permission, to be deployed "where needed, including in the cities of Portland and Chicago." www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

Trump: we will do project 2025
Harris: he will do project 2025
Public: oh that’s bad
Trump: I’m not gonna do it have never heard of it
Harris: he’s still gonna do it
Media: no one can predict the future 77 pinocchios
Last year, CNN ran a “fact check” of Kamala HQ that claimed we were lying for saying Trump’s plan is Project 2025.

Now Trump is outright admitting it’s his plan.

Legacy media failed the country.
