I'm Aly! Mostly, I like to talk about video games, and am an avid fan of RPGs and otome games.

I work FT in public sector finance, but localization is my passion. I had the very fortunate opportunity to be a loc editor for the Switch port of Tokyo Xanadu eX+! And hoping there will be more to come!

dubs (for both anime and games) have been largely good for the better part of 20 years, with plenty being equal or better than their jp counterparts in both performance and casting choices

disparaging people for their preference either way is weird and at times extremely ableist 🤷‍♀️

pretty much. so many otome games actually have really banger plots that are bigger than just the romance. the romance is just part of the character arcs. then again I guess they can't jack it to manpain and cool fight scenes 🤷‍♀️

If you consider yourself a connoisseur/scholar of visual novels, dating sims, adventure games, etc. but you completely disregard all the ones aimed at women (Otome, BL, etc.) I personally don't think you actually are one because that's actually a massive fucking blind spot

😩 and my annual pay increase is going to be significantly less than the last three years bc... gestures at economy. this sucks! hopefully 2026 will bring some freelance work so I can bring in a bit extra (and do some work I enjoy, because getting a low COL increase for work I don't like sucks)

I find it so disappointing that it's gonna be a gacha specifically because absolutely everything else about it has been SO appealing to me. But I never last more than a week playing a gacha these days since I won't spend money to gamble for pngs and hate playing games on my phone... sigh!

i get this also I LIKE A BAG THAT GOES WITH EVERYTHING, this is definitely part of my choice whenever i buy one too. gotta fit The Style but also just easy to work with... we always deserve to buy cute new things sometimes anyway..!!

maybe you need to suggest that any normal business has a 7 minute leeway for a reason! anything between 4:53 and 5:07 would just count as being a 5:00 punch. even if govt agencies can get this right, surely they can!!

i'm sure that compared to what it's like now, it was much emptier and more chill, but few things had me more stressed out in my working adult life than working that specific con for the years i did it. HATED it. was always happy when i was able to stay at the shop and not work the booth/floor

seeing someone talk about nycc circa 2009-2010 and going "the dealer's hall was EMPTY, you could just walk around" as someone who worked in the dealer's hall and could barely get in and out to get food on my meager breaks, that was NOT my experience. what version of this con were you at

I'll say it: I think its rly annoying and frankly amateurish that writers are constantly told their villains must be understandable or have sympathetic motivation to be interesting or realistic when all our big villains irl are in fact rich, stupid, selfish, trickster dillweeds and always have been
