Rest in Peace to the great Drew Struzan, a man whose work sparked the imaginations of a whole generation of movie nerds. The master is gone.

I had the privilege of visiting him in his studio once and getting to talk shop. Here’s his words on one of his masterpieces:

One of my recommendations is the 1974 made-for-TV flick Bad Ronald. It’s such a weird and icky movie, so I sought out the novel it was based on out of curiosity.

Holy crap. The novel is dark. DARK. I can’t believe someone at ABC read it and was like, “THIS SHOULD BE A TV MOVIE OF THE WEEK!”
When I was a kid, my Dad would buy movie poster puzzles and we would put them together as a family then hang them up in our downstairs. I grew up not only looking at Drew Struzan’s art - but putting it together piece by piece. He was a magician and our childhoods are were enriched by his work.

i feel like i need to share this oldie but a goodie today
A tumblr post that reads "WHo would have believed that the perfect wikipedia photo caption could have been improved upon?" Two identical images are then side by side. The first caption is "Piper Kerr, a member of the Scottis National Antarctix Expedition, plays the bagpipes for an indifferent penguin, March 1904". The Caption for the image on the left reads, "Piper Kerr (right), a member of the Scottis National Antarctix Expedition, plays the bagpipes for an indifferent penguin, March 1904"
This explains why my hips hurt so much
As of today, Nintendo’s platform game “Super Mario Bros.” was released closer to the end of fighting in World War II than to the present day.

We need one more X-Files movie to make up for the last one, and it needs to be a banger.

I need to know what Bob Hoskins said to Princess Diana in front of Roger Rabbit at the London premiere of WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (1988).
Bob Hoskins meets Princess Diana as a full size Roger Rabbit costumed character stands next to them.

In 1998, I bought a shelf from a video store that was closing down and put it in my home. This is what it looked like at that time.
