One of the two S-curves of the Kallidromo railway tunnel. The infrastructure here is significantly better, as it’s concrete. Although the tunnel‘s Vmax = 250 km/h, we’re only travelling at 140 km/h and are hauled by diesel locomotives (Class 220 ADtranz).

Back in Greece now, travelling from Patras to Thessaloniki via Athens. The track condition is very bad compared to other countries like Italy or (especially) Austria. So much movement, so much noise. Also we started with a 9 minute delay due to other trains in front of us. The train is almost full 🥲

The EC 31 Zürich HB - Bologna C.le was so on time that we arrived 8‘-15‘ ahead of schedule in Italian stations. Also the AV 9805 arrived at Milano Rogoredo at 10:31 instead of 10:43. What is happening with delays in northern Italy and the planners are so cautious? 😅

Arriving at Basel Bad Bf on the ICE 77 the conductor announced the station and the connections and then asks all passengers with destinations in Switzerland and Italy to stay onboard till the next station, Basel SBB.
I‘m thinking of all the less train-savvy people who lost connections this way 🥲

Schienenersatzverkehr vom Ötztal nach Sargans aufgrund von Bauarbeiten an der Arlbergbahn. 🙃
vielleicht ein Tipp für mein Reiseziel.

Ramp from the platform 3 to the underpass at Ötztal station full of passengers changing from the RailJet to the rail replacement bus. The roof is wooden, on the sides concrete and wooden frame windows, passengers of all ages with various clothing and luggage.

View from inside the bus to Sargans, out of the window is the stone station building and the mountains behind it, in front of it another white bus with the words müller touristik printed in black under the windows. Inside the bus some passengers sitting and some still entering, in front of me a dark plastic box and behind that a coffee machine, some trays with coffee sorts and paper cups.

In Salzburg gibt’s was neues. Ex-neues. Ex-ex-Neues.

Endlich mit 59‘ Verspätung abgefahren, 2‘ vor dem NightJet, der uns am Wien Meidling wiedergetroffen hat.
Ich habe das Gefühl, in Blockabschnitten verfolgt zu werden.

Im RailJet 633 von Wien Hbf nach Villach Hbf, wegen technischer Störung in der Lok ist die Abfahrt derzeit 40‘-45‘ verzögert. Soll ich vielleicht mit der NightJet fahren? 🤔 (Antwort: nein)
