Chris made a vegan cream of mushroom soup for my MIL’s potatoes today and it turned out soooooo good. She likes it better than the real thing.
I made a special sweet potato, lentil, cranberry, carrot, black bean, and wild rice dish inspired by a Shepards Pie. He made a butternut squash soup.

I also love that for Thanksgiving this year, each couple has to make a dish using a specific ingredient, and then whoever makes the favorite gets a plush toy and gets to decide what the next food item we’ll all use next time. There’s gonna be a lot of unique sweet potato dishes this year lol.

This year, for family Christmas, we are doing a Secret Santa so we don’t stretch budgets buying cheap crap, and the rule is we have to make it ourself or buy handmade items from Christmas markets or something, which I love. So I’m supporting my friend that does beadwork. 🙂

On my way home tonight, a Jeep turned up onto the bike trail and tried driving down it. I stopped and shook my light at them like I was shaking my head and yelled “No! Go!” And they backed into a concrete box, turned around, and peeled off on the wrong side of the street. 🥲

I’ve had the hiccups really bad for like 3 hours now and I’m over it. This shit actually hurts.
Yes, I got it to stop temporarily with the water trick. It stopped working after they came back and they got worse and legitimately hurt.

Really hoping that winter deters some ICE activities here in the northern latitudes. It seems unlikely that Chicago will be very hospitable for a bunch of “alpha” vigilantes in Spirit Halloween police uniforms in January.

Really hoping my job’s health insurance for next year will allow me to add my husband without it costing more than unsubsidized Marketplace plans, because otherwise he will not have health insurance next year. 🙁 To add him this year would have cost *$1,600/mo*.

I had people tell me I was exaggerating when I said our president is evil. But he’s spending his time and attention on taking food away from poor Americans, so I stand by it.

Part of why I enjoy working at a place that has weddings all the time: I get to take home fresh flowers pretty often. 🙂

Our dogs normally rip the squeakers out of toys within about 10 minutes, especially our older one. But he took a real liking to one and kept it intact for a few days before his brother ripped it out.
So I’m gonna try my hand at sewing it back up so my older dog can have his friend back. 🙂

Chris’ bike stopped working entirely again tonight. With how heavy it is (~80 lbs) and the 20x4” tires, it’s nearly impossible to actually use as a normal bike. I rode mine with PAS turned off and it was fine. I kept switching with him to give him a break and it was horrible.

My husband can’t be added to my insurance without it going up by $1200/mo, and with the subsidies gone for Marketplace coverage, we can’t afford for him to be insured.
