Sounds great. Would you like to eat it in the restaurant with the big window giving a panoramic view of the city?
stephenold.bsky.social
Yes, that's proper Northumberland!

I was born in the North East and still have a few relatives left up there. I have been to Lindisfarne 4-5 times. My son, another relative and a friend's son and daughter and another friend's niece went to Durham University. We visited them all. It is part of my mental furniture.

The only chemical terms I know are ferrous sulphate and copper sulphate.

I was useless at chemistry at school!

The bright lights of Vladivostok?
stephenold.bsky.social
I wouldn't. I used to get it muddled up with polony - a type of sausage!
stephenold.bsky.social
When Sergei serves fries to people does he ask, "Would you like polonium with that?"

PS Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. I expect there will be a rant about it later. I share most of his views on the subject but I am more polite, softly-spoken and a bit less murderous than he is.

The lines of this wooden church in Sweden are similar to those of the Holy Rosary. There are, of course, other styles of church in Sweden but this is nothing like a traditional church in an English village, is it?

-like dots and are meant to make you feel as if you are in a Viking ship. The effect is better in real life but when I get full speed internet again I will try to find a decent picture of it.

Oh yes, We have reduced internet today because Virgin are carrying out work on the system. The church website has also been redesigned. It used to have better pictures. The inside of the church was fitted out with a suspended ceiling about 40 years ago. The curved panels are fitted out with rivet-

I was born in Sunderland. The accent their is softer and it rises and falls, as Swedish does, but Danish and Norwegian don't. He probably knows this and he definitely doesn't like people from Sunderland. This is the church where I was baptised. It looks a bit Swedish to me.

I had a medical appointment recently, to wire we up to a monitor for a test at home. I got the letter informing me of the appointment the day before they wanted me at the hospital. Somebody else had cancelled so they bumped me up the list. This has happened to me before. good luck!

If it wasn't in the one about the West of England it was in the one about the Midlands.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. My neighbour had a fish pond and it was often raided by a heron. In the end, she had the pond filled in because she does weekend respite fostering of young children and didn't want them falling into the pond.

I have said too much already! 😃I was a poor, deluded teenager then.

@samanthasearrings.bsky.social Lindisfarne is beautiful in its bleakness. There are lots of seals on, and swimming round one of the nearby islands. Gannets too, IIIRC. I have been there a few times and was planning to go again after I left school but my accident prevented that. 😑

You might be able to find it on iPlayer. I think it is in Digging For Britain, Series 6, ep. 1 The West (of Britain). I can't send you the link because we have a reduced internet service while work is carried out on the network today.

My brother was out of work for years while she was making rich people richer.

I love it too. and I used to watch Time Team when I was not working and it is on daytime TV. One of my ex-Twitter friends who is on here now used to be an archaeologist. She works for museums etc now.

👍I still swear at the TV every time they show an old film of one of her speeches. It is deeply embedded reflex action. 😑
