Defense One reporters will turn in their Pentagon passes today rather than sign a Defense Department agreement that threatens to punish them for routine but vital journalism. This morning, we joined seven other defense-oriented publications in a statement:

Oh because the Pentagon press has never written about barracks mold. Buzz off yourself.

If the Pentagon press were not asking pertinent questions, there wouldn’t be these restrictions. You’re being thoroughly unhelpful here.

Tom Bowman has held his Pentagon press pass for 28 years. He says the Pentagon's new media policy makes it impossible to be a journalist, which means finding out what's really going on behind the scenes and not accepting wholesale what any government or administration says. n.pr/4q87Jwb

Rocky is a perfect example of this. If it stopped with the first, and Rocky settles down with Adrian in a Philly rowhouse instead of becoming a Cold War-winning heavyweight champ, that would’ve been a fine choice for his arc.

...only when pressed returned to the table, with no responses to our proposals.

This is not what good faith negotiations look like. We demand Sightline Media Group respond to our significant compromises by Friday, or we will escalate our actions further. 3/3

We met Monday morning with the intent to have collaborative discussions on our modest pay raise and 401k proposals (which would cost just $64,000) and move bargaining forward.

On Monday our union came to the table ready to bargain with management, six weeks after they last gave us a meeting. We sent them a counterproposal last week in which we compromised considerably on our very reasonable demands, expecting them to find some middle ground with us. 1/3

I think the Pentagon press corps needs to consult with noted First Amendment scholar Walter Sobchak.

Defense News and Military Times journalists past and present came together yesterday to stand up for our union and fight for a fair contract! We made sure people at these events heard us and what we want.

Thanks so so much to everyone who helped out and provided moral support to us. #UnionStrong
