Early, early dog walk because someone doesn't understand daylight saving. Can hesitantly say it was worth it.

Everyone’s tidying up for winter — but your “mess” might be saving wildlife.

Leaf piles + log piles = shelter for hedgehogs, frogs, insects. More on the website. 👇

St. Patrick's, Patrington, Yorks: "Flying buttresses scarcely suffice to tether the needle-sharp...most tapering of all these spires to its tower, and the designer has invented a ravishing cusped and pinnacled corona of arcading to steady it." Olive Cook #thread

Getting quite autumn-y around here
A reporter wrote of #northampton in 1869: in 'the lowest parts of London I have never heard such a general superfluous of obscene naughtiness...as I heard during my stay in Northampton'. Proud 😁
#Mackerelsky over Northampton on the early morning dog walk.
A new exhibition has just opened at Northampton's museum, showcasing a hundred objects from Northamptonshire chosen by 51 guest curators. Some amazing objects and well- worth seeing

Sometimes archaeology is so dull. Data entry day as part of the Northampton deposit modelling project. On my second listen of this fine episode for my sanity!
Episode LXII is live as of yesterday evening! I have just recently gotten my vinyl and CD collections back from where they were stored for 6 months (thanks Crispo!!), an event that definitely makes itself felt in this episode. campsite.bio/firedrawnear X

I debated writing this. It can feel tempting, upon encountering yet another instance of this administration’s racism, to let it be. How many ways can you say the same thing over and over again? And yet we have to write it down, if for nothing else, so those who come after us know we were against it.
Actually, Slavery Was Very Bad
The president’s latest criticism of museums is a thinly veiled attempt to erase Black history.

If there's one thing you watch today, make it this

Bob Geldof criticises Israel for what they're doing in Gaza

Then criticises Trevor Philips for making excuses for what Israel is doing in Gaza

If the police arrest me for this, it's a direct attack on the expression of opinion: ie on free speech. But the Terrorism Act is so madly oppressive and loosely framed that I have no idea which side of it I'm on. And I suspect it's the same for them.
